Brigsby: I just saw it as an option for sheets on Plothook, so I downloaded the rulebook to check it out
Igfig: it's similar to D&D, but it plays pretty different
Igfig: (I'm doing a campaign of that as well)
Brigsby: What are the biggest differences?
Igfig: it was sort of a testbed for concepts they wanted to try out in 4e
Igfig: much like Gamma World is for 5e
Igfig: Biggest difference from 3.5, or 4e?
Brigsby: 4e
Lothark_Understone: Oh yeah, it is on plothook
Igfig: It plays a lot less... over the top, I guess?
Igfig: There are no huge burn everything spells
Igfig: and you can't heal nearly as fast or as much
Brigsby: So it's a lot more "Oh god we might die"?
Igfig: It's easier to lose a fight
Igfig: but paradoxically, it's actually harder to die
Brigsby: That's interesting
Igfig: unless you're massively overwhelmed

Igfig: D&D plays a lot like an animes

Igfig: It's also really good for modelling something like Firefly

Igfig: d20 Modern is a very interesting system, in that it somehow, almost coincidentally, manages to strike upon the exact power level that works best for the old D20 system
