Igfig: Good evening Fortuna Igfig: glad to see you back Igfig: that dog we had wasn't very talkative Igfig: anyway The_Motherlode: Hey now. Igfig: The job is: The_Motherlode: sometimes she said pfffggggpbpbpbv blbl. Igfig: There's supopsed to be a lightning rail coming from Sharn to Wroat with a big load of dragonshards in the cargo Igfig: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/eb_map/Eberron_Map_11x17.jpg Igfig: map Igfig: sharn is in the south, bit left of middle Igfig: The lightning rail is what passes for trains in Eberron Igfig: basically a magical maglev Varis: alright Varis: jesus this is detailed Varis: we could spend years fucking around in eberron Igfig: you don't know where this shipment is ultimately headed or who it is for, but it hardly matters Blaze: Well it is a full fledged setting after all. Varis: We just want what they have Varis: Maybe we can sell it to some stuffy nobles Igfig: well, perhaps Igfig: but dragonshards are more valuable than that Igfig: They're the fuel source on which most of Eberron's magitech runs The_Motherlode: We can feed them to Ben. The_Motherlode: AND FLY TO THE MOON. Igfig: the lightning rail, for instance, uses Eberron dragonshards imbued with lightning for its levitation Igfig: and a Khyber dragonshard containing a bound elemental for propulsion, much like your ship Igfig: which still lacks a name, I think? Igfig: Or is it the S.S. Ben The_Motherlode: Is Mibbit spamming anybody else with a spyware tab? Varis: lets think of that later Varis: I cant believe we forgot about that Varis: I have adblocker so no Igfig: It is not, but I have adblock The_Motherlode: WELL AREN'T YOU GUYS GREAT. Igfig: The shards are owned, as are many of the highest-quality shards, by house Cannith Igfig: the dragonmarked house of Making Blaze: It has done that to me before, but is not doing so currently. The_Motherlode: This is riduclous. The_Motherlode: I have to reload. Blaze: It is. The_Motherlode: Hang on a sec. The_Motherlode quit. Varis: i have my prepared spells The_Motherlode joined #pwot_dnd. Igfig: House Tharashk, the House of Finding, sends prospectors off into the wild places of the world to find new caches of dragonshards to feed Khorvaire's hungry economy Igfig: and Cannith buys them and uses them to create new magitechnological marvels Igfig: and since they're using an entire train car to ship them, they must have bought a whole lot recently! Igfig: well enough that you're going to take them Igfig: Here's a typical layout for a lightning rail train Igfig: http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Just-my-2-cents/xyz/lightning_rail.jpg Igfig: I don't know what a ghost cart is Varis: it has ghosts in it obviously Blaze: That was the cart that caught my eye too. Varis: so where do we begin The_Motherlode: So are there passengers on this train? The_Motherlode: Or is it just cargo? Igfig: there are The_Motherlode: Alright. Igfig: You guys are going to have to figure out your plan of attack yourselves Igfig: how do you want to do this The_Motherlode: Seems easiest to be on the train as passengers to start with. Varis: okay i was just wondering if we're flying above it or something Varis: i have the feather fall spell Blaze: So cargo would likely be in the back end cart, or at least considering the bounty the cart with the most security. Varis: we can fly over Varis: and just on top The_Motherlode: If the cargo cart is on the back, we could just detach it. Varis: jump* Varis: thats true The_Motherlode: This kind of cargo will probably be pretty heavily guarded. Varis: but that also leaves us as sitting ducks for any guards The_Motherlode: I have to assume an aerial assualt would result in the three of us fighing all the guards anyway. The_Motherlode: If we can at least detach it, we just have to fight THOSE guards. Varis: thats true Varis: lets detach it then how are we gunna do that Varis: we need to land on it anyways The_Motherlode: How far ahead of time do we know about this Ig? The_Motherlode: Well I mean we could just buy tickets. Varis: maybe we can land on the second to last Varis: get inside and detach it there Igfig: a few days, I guess? Long enough that you could easily get tickets Varis: heck lets just get tickets then The_Motherlode: Or, possibly, the two of you could get in as prisoners and I can let you out. The_Motherlode: That puts you in the second-to-last cart. The_Motherlode: With no questions asked. The_Motherlode: And I can easily pose as a guard of some kind. The_Motherlode: Thanks to my DISGUISE KIT. Blaze: There isn't necessarily any prison transport happening, yar. Varis: they might Varis: it'd be cost effective Varis: to have guards for the prison and for the cargo Blaze: Yar. The_Motherlode: And then we're in the second-to-last cart right off the bat. Igfig: well, they wouldn't be too likely to be shared Blaze: But I think not all of these are all on the same trains. Blaze: Like you aren't going to find first-class carts with gambling and luxury on the same train as a containment and prison cart. Igfig: this cargo would be guarded by Tharask folk, any prisoners would be either local law enforcement or maybe Deneith? Igfig: well, you might Varis: so how can we get in as prisoners? Blaze: This map isn't necessarily the layout of the train, just shows layouts for different kinds of carts that can be in it, yar. Varis: is there a line as they load on we can just slip into? Varis: with the DISGUISE KIT The_Motherlode: I probably could. The_Motherlode: How are you guys' Bluff checks looking? Varis: i have deception tagged The_Motherlode: I think we'd just show up with me in guard uniform and you two in chains. Varis: im not sure what my actual bonus would be hmm The_Motherlode: And I bluff our way into the car. Varis: thatll work Varis: say we were trying to escape Varis: and you went out and got us The_Motherlode: That sounds good to me. The_Motherlode: Peter? Igfig: oh I'm wrong, if there were prisoners and it wasn't law enforcement Tharashk bounty hunters would be the ones Varis: igfig for tagged skills do i just add my proficiency bonus to the roll or do they have ability scores tied into them too Igfig: the latter The_Motherlode: And also Ig, are we using that layout as the layout of this train? Blaze: I dunno, all I know is I've got spells and animal forms. Varis: it doesnt say what they are bluh Igfig: although which ability you use is flexible The_Motherlode: Because this plan is heavily dependent on the ticketed cars being farther away from the cargo. Igfig: I don't want to stick to that precise layout, no Varis: it doesnt actually give me a number for the skills Igfig: for one, I don't think the first class people should have to go through the galley to get to the dining car Blaze: In particular the cargo we are after, and it'd make sense that they would keep the dragonshard cart further away from passenger seating. Igfig: what do you mean, doesn't give you a number? Varis: for the skills on the page Varis: its just the list of skills and you click and a circle appears Varis: and im not sure what the mod would then be The_Motherlode: Well, are these cars at least in the order we're assuming? It would make sense for the valuable cargo to be as far as possible from people who aren't handcuffed. The_Motherlode: I think it just means you have proficiency on those checks. The_Motherlode: Add your bonus to the roll. Varis: so i add my proficiency bonus to my tagged skill checks? Varis: alright got it Igfig: yes Varis: so anyways the train Igfig: it'll be roughly that order, but not necessarily Varis: so we can assume the prisoners arent right beside the valuable cargo The_Motherlode: I'd think they would be. Varis: or they might be just so guards can guard both at once The_Motherlode: The people closest to the cargo are guards and in chains, respectively. The_Motherlode: A lot less chaotic than just a passenger car. Igfig: well, if you want to do some research you can find out the specific details of how the train will be laid out Varis: that's my specialty The_Motherlode: Waffle can you post your sheet in Skype? Varis: I can spend a fate point for my military researcher to find the exact layout of this train Varis: yeah i can one sec Varis: oh ya how many fate points do we have Igfig: by research I mean, like, sneaking into the trainyard the night before and seeing what's listed as the train's complement The_Motherlode: Ah. Igfig: it's not something that's in a library somewhere The_Motherlode: Well I vote we do that. The_Motherlode: Is anybody good at sneaking? Varis: nope Igfig: and you start with three fate points I think Varis: ok The_Motherlode: Otherwise I guess I can pose as an official. The_Motherlode: And just bluff my way in. Blaze: Yeah, we start out with 3, I've got a feat so I have 5 base. Igfig: ah, right Varis: well Varis: hm Varis: so you want to sneak in the night before and find out the layout? The_Motherlode: There's little point in getting you two locked up if it doesn't get us closer to the cargo than just buying tickets would. Varis: that is true Varis: so let's do it then The_Motherlode: Very well. The night before, Orrin will dress up as an authority figure and bluff his way into the trainyard to get a look at the manifest. Varis: dont suppose we have to do anything here Blaze: I might have a good animal form for that as well actually. Varis: why are you called the motherlod though Varis: shouldnt you be orrin The_Motherlode: Oh yeah. Motherlode is my nickname. Varis: that's DUMB Varis: and you are too!! The_Motherlode: YOU'RE DUMB. Varis: FIGHT ME The_Motherlode: GRAAAAAAH. Igfig: okay, let's just do this with a few quick rolls so we can get to the heist itself Orrin_Torrin: Okay. Orrin_Torrin: So I'm in my disguise and I approach the trainyard. Varis: i cant take part in this at all since im no sneaker Varis: im a nike Blaze: Yeah, I can transform into a cat or an owl would be good for participating in this bit. Orrin_Torrin: If you want to act as a flunky of some kind it might actually help sell it. Orrin_Torrin: If you look like my assistant. Orrin_Torrin: And Blaze can play lookout. Orrin_Torrin: Hoot three times if trouble's coming. Igfig: not many people around at this time of night, just a watchman I suppose Varis: sure Varis: I'll be an assistant Igfig: can I get a bluff check for your disguise Varis: I'm wearing my glasses and everything Orrin_Torrin: Okay. Orrin_Torrin: And for the sake of our story, you made a mistake that necessitated me coming down and dealing with it. Varis: THE FIRST ROLL OF 5E Blaze: Alright, I'll be an owl lookout then. Varis: make it count orrin Orrin_Torrin: Is that Cha? Igfig: yep Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+4: [7] = 11 Orrin_Torrin: Eeeh. Orrin_Torrin: Oh wait. Blaze: Or intelligence, depending on how you work it I think. Igfig: weren't you proficient in Bluff? Varis: so I'll be dressed in casual clothes looking like I hecked up Orrin_Torrin: I have proficiency on rolls with my disguise kit. Igfig: yeah Orrin_Torrin: So 1d20+4+3 Igfig: so that'd be 14 Varis: so14 then Orrin_Torrin: Yeah. Igfig: hmm, one sec I'm going to grab a die of my own for if i have to make secret rolls Varis: you can message yourself Orrin_Torrin: Or he could just roll an actual die. Orrin_Torrin: Right in front of himself. Varis: itll be recorded in his chat though Orrin_Torrin: Didn't we break Fortuna with a private thread once? Varis: im not sure Igfig: i suppose I could, but it doesn't much matter right now Orrin_Torrin: Ah well. Blaze: I don't recall. Blaze: Also hoot hoot. Varis: that was only 2 hoots Varis: no danger Varis: don't arbitrarily hoot at us blaze that fucks with us Igfig: in any case, the watchman catches sight of you coming and doffs his hat flusteredly Blaze_Owl: I now sound like a maverick from Megaman X. Varis: yeah you do Igfig: Blaze Owl sounds like some kind of boss from--yeah Blaze_Owl: There was a Storm Owl in the... 4th one I think. Igfig: storm crow Igfig: in MtG Varis: STORM EAGLE Orrin_Torrin: THUNDERHAWK. Varis: anyways lets move on Blaze_Owl: Yup. Igfig: "Oh! Er... what a surprise! I didn't realize we had an inspection tonight..." Blaze_Owl: Also nah, hooting is fine, it's if I start screaching that there is an issue. Blaze_Owl: then* Varis: then hoot away Igfig: "What can I do for you, sir?" Igfig: He looks a bit worried. Orrin_Torrin: "You don't, but this genius was supposed to bring me a manifest and didn't. So now I have to come all the way out here when I should be asleep and disturb YOUR night just to clean up his mistake." Orrin_Torrin: "Apologize to the nice man." Varis: I start waving my arms around and swearing in elvish to drive the point home Orrin_Torrin: This is going to be a fun campaing. Orrin_Torrin: campaign* Igfig: "Oh!" He immediately looks relieved. Blaze_Owl: Hoot hoot. Varis: blaze owl sure is having a hoot over there Varis: tee hee Orrin_Torrin: HA. Igfig quit. Varis: IM SORRY IGFIG Orrin_Torrin: We win! Igfig joined #pwot_dnd. Blaze_Owl: The pun was too much for Igfig. Varis: my pun was so bad igfig left Igfig: whoops, wrong button Igfig: oh no, I missed the pun Igfig: what was it Varis: 19:41 Blaze_Owl Hoot hoot. 19:41 Varis blaze owl sure is having a hoot over there 19:41 Varis tee hee Igfig: har Igfig: Anyway, relieved that he's not in trouble or anything, he lets you into the office Varis: we got our eye on him though, he can expect a full report on his lazy behaviour Blaze_Owl: Hoot. Orrin_Torrin: Alright, we're inside. Orrin_Torrin: GREAT JOB GANG. Igfig: then waits, watching, by the door while you get what you need Varis: coughs Varis: guess we have to Varis: make a show of finding it then Blaze_Owl: Hoots. Varis: without arousing his suspicion Varis: maybe its just on the desk Orrin_Torrin: I gruffly order Varis to find it. Igfig: the desk is very tidy Varis: can I make a search check Igfig: you can Varis: alright Igfig: Int-based Varis: I look through drawers and a filing cabinet for tomorrows manifest Varis: 1d20+6 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+6: [7] = 13 Orrin_Torrin: "See what I have to deal with? Gods, a fella can't even PAY for a good assistant." Igfig: you don't turn it up immediately Orrin_Torrin: Can I talk to the guard to buy him more time? Igfig: sure Varis: huffs huffs Varis: whats in the office Igfig: "Uh, can you not find it? It would probably be in the usual place..." Orrin_Torrin: "So, been having a quiet night until me and numbnuts showed up? I know some of the other guards were a little on edge earlier." Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+7 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+7: [7] = 14 Igfig: he doesn't say where the usual place is Orrin_Torrin: I can only roll 14s. Varis: man our rolls aint good Blaze_Owl: Hoo hoo, hoot. Igfig: "Nothing special... they were? I hadn't heard anything of the sort." Varis: "I... I think I moved it but I'm not sure where, can you check around the usual place while I look around on the ground, it may have fallen" Igfig: ooh, good trick there Igfig: Diplomacy, perhaps Varis: how about deception Varis: im tagged in that Varis: wait diplomacy isnt a skill Orrin_Torrin: "Sure. Word is there's important cargo going out, word came down all the way from Orien that this is a big one." Blaze_Owl: I feel like deception also works there, tricking the guy with a knowledge based thing. Igfig: well, you're asking him to do something for you Varis: it may not even need a roll Igfig: oh, maybe it's persuasion now? let me see Varis: like Blaze_Owl: But yar there is also asking him to help, and that is diplomacy. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah it's persuasion now. Varis: "the faster we can find this thing the faster we'll be out of your hair" Blaze_Owl: Yeah, persuasion. Orrin_Torrin: I think it replaced Bluff AND Diplomacy. Varis: alright then Varis: so charisma based? Igfig: yeah Varis: 1d20+2 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+2: [9] = 11 Varis: MAN OUR ROLLS Blaze_Owl: Well you could consider deception as a replacement for bluff really. Varis: are so average Orrin_Torrin: God dammit. Varis: aleast i bumped over ten Igfig: Don't forget that you can always use aspects to gain advantage on a roll Orrin_Torrin: "Look, I'll give you a gold piece to help this retard out." Igfig: But he's like yeah, okay Varis: okay okay no need to lose the gold Varis: its just asking him to look at a place Orrin_Torrin: "I just want to get home to my warm bed and my wife." Varis: so DC 10 is fine Orrin_Torrin: Neato! Varis: err brb my dad needs me to fix his tv real quick Igfig: he goes and opens up a specific drawer and starts flipping through the papers in it Igfig: one you've already had a look in, actually Igfig: aaand after a second pulls a sheet out Orrin_Torrin: Varis really selling the "incompetent help" angle. Igfig: "Look, it's right here. Where it's supposed to be. Do you not know where things go?" Igfig: "Are you new or something? I don't think I've seen you around here before, now that I think of it..." Blaze_Owl: Hooooooooooot. Orrin_Torrin: "He's the new guy, and I have a feeling he's going to be 'the old guy' before the sun comes up. They wonder why I can't get my job done and this is the kind of help they give me." Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+7 Persuasion Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, Persuasion: [11] = 18 Orrin_Torrin: There it is. Igfig: "And why am I hearing owls in the middle of Sharn?" Igfig: ahh, that'll do Blaze_Owl: And now I looked up Sharn, Sharn is an awesome looking city. Igfig: After a second, he chuckles. "All right, well I'd better get back to my rounds then. Knowing my luck, someone will have stolen the train by the time I get back." Blaze_Owl: Well, sorta, the image is disected actually. Varis: alrighty im back Igfig: he holds the door open for you Orrin_Torrin: I flip him a gold piece. Varis: I mention "owls get around these days you know how it is with all this blasted magical research being thrown around" Orrin_Torrin: "Sorry about all this. Hope you have a quiet night. Come on, Elf. You're telling my wife why she had to wake up twice tonight." Igfig: He catches it and tips his hat Varis: wait Varis: i just realized i spoke common Varis: when i was supposed to be only able to speak elvish Varis: oops Igfig: luckily he didn't seem to notice Varis: alrighty then Orrin_Torrin: You don't get Common at all? Varis: i do Varis: my disguise i meant Orrin_Torrin: Oh your disguise. Orrin_Torrin: Eh, I feel like it's probably pretty uncommon to see a big-city employee who doesn't speak the local language. Orrin_Torrin: Even if he curses in his native tongue when his boss is being a dick. Igfig: anyway, he locks the door behind you and goes on his way Varis: im just a train yard wage slave Blaze_Owl: Especially considering Common is, well, common, everywhere. Varis: teehee Varis: we ollie outie Orrin_Torrin: Anyway, we have the manifest. Varis: giggling like school children Igfig: Indeed you do Orrin_Torrin: We meet up back at the... inn(?) to see what we're dealing with. Varis: back on our ship Blaze: Probably the ship. Orrin_Torrin: Ah yes. Varis: airship port Igfig: So it looks like there is no prison cart on the train Varis: WELL THAT WAS LUCKY Varis: guess we're buying tickets then Orrin_Torrin: What class is closest to the cargo? Orrin_Torrin: And is the cargo last? Igfig: the cargo cart is the last cart, and hmm Orrin_Torrin: Because our "detach the car" plan is pretty contingent on that. Igfig: I'm going to say the cart before that is actually the galley cart Varis: in my experience with trains it goes 3rd 2nd 1st as you get closer to the front Igfig: I changed my mind, gonna mess all with the layout Orrin_Torrin: Well, I doubt we can disguise ourselves as chefs. What's the closest passenger cart to the back? Igfig: 3rd class is the furthest back Varis: we can totally disguise ourselves as chefs Orrin_Torrin: And do what with the real chefs? Orrin_Torrin: Kill them? Varis: oh right Orrin_Torrin: I'm a con man, but I'm still a paladin. Blaze: We could temporarily dispose of them. Igfig: well, it's not that hard to get around a cart really Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I mean it seems like it would be pretty easy to just walk through it. Orrin_Torrin: It's doing it unnoticed that'll be the trick. Varis: so we are buying 3rd class tickets then Igfig: like most adventure trains, there are handy ladders onto the roofs of the carriages Orrin_Torrin: Unless Blaze can think of a way to temporarily remove the chefs. Orrin_Torrin: Without harming them. Varis: oh Varis: I have the charm person spell Varis: we can use that to get them to leave the cart Orrin_Torrin: I have a feeling we don't want to be seen USING said ladders, though. Orrin_Torrin: How many people can you use it on at once? Igfig: The ladders are on the outside, people don't usually notice Varis: i dont think theres a solid limit Varis: so within reason i suppose Blaze: Well, only ways I can think of would either be spell stuff, tying them up or knocking them out stuff, or giving them a "sick day", but I don't think any of us are good with poisons, we aren't the sneakiest bunch, but that is why we are pirates and not thieves. Varis: 2 or 3 chefs isnt hard Igfig: charm person is single target Varis: aah Varis: okay then Varis: lets go over with the ladders then Orrin_Torrin: Well then we might as well not buy tickets at all. Varis: and do what Orrin_Torrin: If we're climbing the outside of the train. Varis: how do we get onto the moving train in the first place then Orrin_Torrin: We would've been better getting on the roof tonight and just sleeping there. Blaze: We have an airship. Varis: im not sure thats the best idea Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I think getting on the train legally is the way to go. Varis: id imagine they would inspect the trains before laving Orrin_Torrin: Ig is there just a door on the back of the cart? Varis: seeing some dudes sleeping on top Igfig: yeah, though the door at the back of the train would be well locked Orrin_Torrin: All we need to do is get to the connector, we can deal with getting inside the cargo car whenever. Varis: sounds good Varis: hopefully they wont notice the back train detaching Orrin_Torrin: Would you consider sleight of hand to be good for lockpicking. Varis: yeah id think Orrin_Torrin: We only need a few minutes. Blaze: they probably would notice the train detaching, but by then it won't matter too much I think. Varis: if you take 20 times the time you auto succeed Igfig: Thievery is for lockpicking Varis: there is no thievery skill Orrin_Torrin: Have the airship come down, we offload the cargo, then we outie. Blaze: So sleight of hand is probably it then. Varis: yar Varis: so Varis: we have our plan Orrin_Torrin: The skill checks are a lot more flexible in this game. Orrin_Torrin: Well, most of it. Varis: yeah Orrin_Torrin: We still need to get the cooks out of the room. Varis: SO Varis: SHALL WE BUY OUR TICKETS Varis: We are climbing over Igfig: Oh, I guess it's just a straight Dex check to pick lokcs Igfig: anywhat Igfig: *way Orrin_Torrin: Huh. Orrin_Torrin: We still have to go through the door though. Orrin_Torrin: There's no ladder inside the train. Varis: how much do the tickets cost Varis: the ladders are outside Varis: between the carts Orrin_Torrin: Then why are we buying tickets? Igfig: but you do get your proficiency bonus if you're proficient with theives' tools Blaze: So we just exit the cart we're in, climb the ladder, and work our way bakc. Varis: BECAUSE WE NEED TO GET ON THE MOVING TRAIN IN THE FIRST PLACE Igfig: The ladder is on the outside of the train car Orrin_Torrin: Ohh okay I see. Varis: farrrrttts Blaze: We are purchasing the tickets to get on the train in the first place, unless we feel like jumping off of an airship. Varis: okay Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I don't really know how we'd do that. Orrin_Torrin: We have to deal with the cooks somehow. Orrin_Torrin: I can Command one to leave. You can Charm one. Orrin_Torrin: How many are there Ig? Blaze: We can avoid teh cooks by going over their cart. Varis: we are climbing over their cart yar Igfig: The tickets cost little enough that you don't really need to worry about how much they cost Igfig: and you don't know how many cooks there are Orrin_Torrin: Alright. Orrin_Torrin: I was picturing the ladders on the sides of the cars. Varis: alrighty then Varis: lets warp ahead to on the train then? Orrin_Torrin: And wondering how we were going to get from our car's door to the side of the car. Orrin_Torrin: Of a moving train. Orrin_Torrin: I feel silly now. Varis: thats why you're our muscle Orrin_Torrin: And somehow the front man. Blaze: And also our talking man, yar. Orrin_Torrin: A quick tongue and a big hammer. Blaze: Well we, most of us have multiple roles. Igfig: yes, let's skip ahead to you on the train Blaze: You speak easy and carry a big stick. Varis: we're on the train in our seats Blaze: I can cast spells and shift forms. Blaze: And Waffle casts spells. Varis: got on at station 9 3/4 Igfig: no Igfig: just station Igfig: 9 Orrin_Torrin: I think it's probably best if we go one at a time. Varis: aw Igfig: no whimsy Varis: :C Igfig: this is serious Igfig: dead serious Orrin_Torrin: This is the most serious air pirate train heist of all time. Blaze: and we had already had the owl too. Varis: I understand Varis: this is so fucking serious; Varis: I'm serious Orrin_Torrin: Alright. Orrin_Torrin: Is there security on our train car? Igfig: Not much, just a conductor Varis: we can all just get up and go Orrin_Torrin: Is he permanently in here, or does he go back and forth? Igfig: probably one conductor for each class Varis: igfig this is extremely important for varis Orrin_Torrin: I would prefer he not see us leave, go through the door we went through and not see us in the car behind it. Varis: is there Varis: a candy cart Igfig: but, like, it's reasonable to leave as a group, the dining car is that way too Orrin_Torrin: Oh okay. Blaze: If there is it'd probably stick closer to the higher class passenger cars. Orrin_Torrin: So we "get hungry" and leave our car. Igfig: the order is cargo car, galley car, dining car, third class, second class, first class Orrin_Torrin: Speaking of hunger, I should really have eaten food. Igfig: and it probably should be different but I don't think there's an optimal layout that has people not disturbing each other Orrin_Torrin: I was going to make quesadillas, and then I was out of tortillas, and then hockey was on. Igfig: dillas are nice Igfig: anyhoo Varis: hoo Orrin_Torrin: Yeah, this is still probably best. Varis: hoot Orrin_Torrin: 3rd class gets bothered the most. Igfig: you get hungry Varis: we all dramatically stand in our seats Varis: and leave Varis: to get food of course Igfig: all right Orrin_Torrin: "This mortal form requires sustenance." Igfig: of course Orrin_Torrin: "WE GO." Blaze: Yup. Varis: "BOY I SURE AM A HUNGRY LIL ELF" Orrin_Torrin: So we're between cars. Igfig: so yeah, the conductor ignores you as you open the door and head out Igfig: Oh, quick question: Blaze: Si? Igfig: I suppose there's a specific time at which you're supposed to rendezvous with the ship or something, right? Once you've disconnected the last car Varis: yeah Varis: i have the message spell Orrin_Torrin: They could probably be following from a safe distance. Orrin_Torrin: Yep. Igfig: so things will be slightly time-sensitive from now on Varis: so i can launch a message towards the ship and be like "aight come get us" Igfig: ok, cool Orrin_Torrin: Well we don't have to alert them until we have it detached. Igfig: ah, right Igfig: ok then Orrin_Torrin: Our momentum will carry us for a while, they'll have plenty of time to catch up. Varis: maybe the boat is above us Orrin_Torrin: Or honestly they could come from ahead. Orrin_Torrin: They know where the train's going. Orrin_Torrin: And that's less suspicious. Blaze: Either way though, we need to get this done somewhere preferably as far from Sharn and Wroat was it as possible, to give us more time. Blaze: Post heist to escape. Varis: ay Igfig: yeah, midway between is where you'd do it I imagine Igfig: anyway Igfig: you're between the 3rd class and dining carts Orrin_Torrin: Do we see the ladder? Blaze: Also I am mildly gawking at the electric rail, because it is awesome. Igfig: yes, there are ladders up to each roof Varis: then we climb! Igfig: all right! Orrin_Torrin: TO THE ROOF. Igfig: It's really windy up here Igfig: can I get some balance checks Varis: like windy enough for a check to stay on the cart Varis: yeah Varis: what would that be Orrin_Torrin: Could I be considered to have advantage since I am both short and extremely heavy in full plate with a warhammer? Blaze: Dexterity probably, or if you can reason it some other option. Igfig: Dex/Acrobatics, I think Varis: okay Varis: 1d20+1 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+1: [8] = 9 Orrin_Torrin: And I would think I would just plant my feet and roll strength Varis: welp Orrin_Torrin: I AIN'T 'FRAID OF NO WIND. Varis: I grab onto orrin to keep myself steady Blaze: You might want to grab Varis as well. Orrin_Torrin: I don't suppose I could flash the wind a winning smile and use Cha. Blaze: Right, dexterity though, crud. I'm going to need an animal form for this. Igfig: I think if you get less than 10, you probably have to crawl along the roof instead of walking Varis: what about will or con Varis: okay Orrin_Torrin: Con wouldn't be bad. Varis: I crawl like a silly goose Igfig: this is really just a dex thing I think Orrin_Torrin: Fiiiine. Orrin_Torrin: 1d20 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20: [12] = 12 Igfig: If you get less than 5, you're in trouble Orrin_Torrin: I stand proud and erect. Blaze: But I'd also rather hold on to my animal form, I can only do it once between short or long rests. Blaze: Eh, I'll just roll it. Blaze: 1d20 Fortuna: Blaze, 1d20: [20] = 20 Igfig: haha, you two are fine Orrin_Torrin: Blaze skips lightly across the surface of the train. Varis: welp Blaze: Oh hey, guess Guided by the Winds is helping me out here. Blaze: Forgot about that. Varis: while i crawl by an idiot Orrin_Torrin: And you didn't even have to fate point it. Blaze: I'm good with this wind stuff. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I think it's much better that the dwarf is walking. Orrin_Torrin: And you're crawling around. Orrin_Torrin: "Guys I'm really scared. Guuuys." Varis: and then some dude is skipping Igfig: oh yeah, you could invoke that and... probably get advantage on the balance checks as long as you're up here Varis: I nudge orrin in the ass to keep him walking Blaze: Yar, for now though I think I'm fine. Igfig: Okay, so you get to the end of the dining car Igfig: and there's the gap between it and the galley car Blaze: Working with the wind to speed myself up instead of fighting it to keep my footing. Blaze: How long is the gap? Orrin_Torrin: Should only be a few feet. Varis: oh boy Igfig: not too long, you could probably jump it without much trouble Varis: i cant even stand Blaze: There are ladders you can use to go down and up too probably. Igfig: or you cold climb down the ladder and back up if you're scared Varis: can i stretch myself over it Igfig: but Igfig: at this moment Varis: hmm Varis: i dont want to be a WUSS Igfig: you notice, a cart back Orrin_Torrin: RIVAL PIRATES. Varis: i like that idea Igfig: somebody dressed in black has climbed up onto the roof behind you Varis: we have rival pirates Varis: oh no Blaze: All in black on a what is the weather like right now anyways? Orrin_Torrin: Windy. Varis: can I amplify my voice with magic to shout over the wind at them Igfig: it is a pretty nice day for a heist Orrin_Torrin: "The dining car is real crowded!" Blaze: The people inside the train could probably hear you too then Varis. Igfig: mix of sun and cloud Varis: that is true Varis: can I use message then Orrin_Torrin: No. Blaze: All in black on a nice sunny day on top of a train, silly person. Orrin_Torrin: We need that. Varis: point at him and he'll hear it Orrin_Torrin: To call our ride. Blaze: Do we really want to talk to the guy all in black who is following us? Varis: i can use message more than once Varis: as long as I keep a spell slot open Varis: I do, however Varis: have dimensional door guys Orrin_Torrin: I feel like this is really more of a "Run away or kill him" situation. Orrin_Torrin: God dammit. Varis: so we can just apparate out Blaze: I'm going to keep moving towards the cargo with a quick leap since I'm rocking it with the wind. Varis: I forgot to mention that Blaze: Do I need to roll? Igfig: You do need to roll to get across, yeah Igfig: Athletics Orrin_Torrin: I say we get across, THEN see what he wants. Blaze: Athletics I'm thinking, do I get a bonus since I'm jumping/working with the wind? Varis: when theres a nice gap between us Orrin_Torrin: That way he has to jump to attack us. Igfig: the person—you can see that she's a woman—flicks out her arm and what appears to be a spear or something appears in her hand Varis: welp Igfig: and she is coming at you quick Varis: I'm gunna try and jump it guys Orrin_Torrin: I am going to hit her with a hammer. Varis: I stand up shakily Blaze: Yeah time to dip. Varis: and run and JUMP AAAAAHA Blaze: 1d20+3 Fortuna: Blaze, 1d20+3: [20] = 23 Varis: 1d20+1 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+1: [11] = 12 Varis: MAN Orrin_Torrin: Holy shit son. Blaze: I'm getting all the 20s. Igfig: you both make it fine Orrin_Torrin: alright I guess I won't hit her. Blaze: It's like I was born on top of a train. Varis: orrin get over here Orrin_Torrin: Is it Strength? Varis: dex Orrin_Torrin: On Athletics? Igfig: Orrin, roll initiative Orrin_Torrin: Or I'll fight her. Varis: he isnt jumping Varis: i mean Varis: he is jumping Blaze: I'm just going to keep running for the cargo cart. Igfig: 1d20+3 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+3: [13] = 16 Varis: he isnt fighting Orrin_Torrin: 1d20 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20: [11] = 11 Igfig: yeah, but the other two jumped first Varis: I'm gunna roll intiative too Varis: 1d20+1 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+1: [5] = 6 Igfig: so she caught uo Igfig: if you'de won initiative, you could have jumped before she got here Igfig: but as it is Orrin_Torrin: Ah well. Varis: I'm over the gap but im ranged Orrin_Torrin: "Not even a hello," I say as I draw my hammer. Igfig: she swings her spear, or maybe it's more of a halberd, at your legs Varis: make a cool jump over the blade orrin Igfig: 1d20+4 vs your Str or Dex check Fortuna: Igfig, vs your Str or Dex check: [1] = 5 Varis: hahaa Orrin_Torrin: Orrin is unimpressed. Igfig: but, uh Orrin_Torrin: She bounces off his resilient armor and falls to her death. Igfig: just then there's the sound of an explosion from the cargo car Igfig: which, uh, throws her off Igfig: metaphorically speaking Igfig: and she skids to a halt Varis: what the hell just happened over there Igfig: Orrin, what are you doing Orrin_Torrin: Critical miss on top of a moving train? I feel like she should fall prone. Varis: SWING AT HER Orrin_Torrin: Oh I'm gonna. Igfig: she is prone, yes Varis: yeesss Varis: headman's chop her Orrin_Torrin: Do we still get advantage on prone targets? Blaze: Also music time: Blaze: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg2fPI4y0o8 Igfig: no advantage for prone though Orrin_Torrin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otCpCn0l4Wo This is all the music I need. Blaze: Did I see anything relating to that explosion noise since I was running my way down the train towards it? Igfig: actually you get disadvantage attacking a prone target unless you're right next to them Orrin_Torrin: That is my music. Orrin_Torrin: Well I'd be attacking at melee. Orrin_Torrin: With a warhammer. Igfig: Yeah, the others wouldn't if they decided to is all Orrin_Torrin: Ahh,. Orrin_Torrin: Alright, so I swing at her prone form with my Hammer of Comical Money Sounds. Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+4: [19] = 23 Varis: ouch Varis: i hope she's wearing armor or thats a few bones broken Igfig: and yes Blaze, you see a, well, explosion coming up from between the galley and cargo carts Igfig: Well, she's wearing leather armour Blaze yells back to Varis "I think someone else is trying to pull our heist!" Igfig: and even prone, she manages to roll out of the way mostly Varis: roll damage orrin Igfig: so she only takes half damage Orrin_Torrin: 1d10+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d10+4: [8] = 12 Varis: 6 Orrin_Torrin: And I'll take my second attack as well. Orrin_Torrin: Since I can do that. Igfig: kay Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+4: [10] = 14 Igfig: and that's a proper hit Orrin_Torrin: 1d10+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d10+4: [1] = 5 Varis: farting noises Orrin_Torrin: Motherfuck. Orrin_Torrin: I can add my divine smite on top of it I guess. Orrin_Torrin: I'll do that, at first level. Blaze: That hit was the noise when you hit an empty block in Mario. Orrin_Torrin: 2d8 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 2d8: [8, 8] = 16 Orrin_Torrin: BLAM. Igfig: oh, ouch Blaze: And now it wasn't. Igfig: Okay, the rest of you roll init Blaze: 1d20 Fortuna: Blaze, 1d20: [20] = 20 Orrin_Torrin: Blaze. Orrin_Torrin: Jesus,. Varis: gOD DAMN Blaze: I'm... am I hacking fortuna or something? Varis: i rolled an 8 earlier igfig Igfig: possibly Igfig: okay Blaze: Oh god, is Fortuna trying to make a weed joke? Igfig: not until you roll four of those Blaze: I'm going to roll a 4th 20 and my name is Blaze? Varis: ahahaa Varis: so its my turn if Varis: so its my turn ig Varis: unless orrin is moving at all Blaze: I just rolled a 20 on initiative, I have all the turns. Varis: which i think he should leap over the gap Igfig: uh I think Blaze goes first Varis: well okay then Orrin_Torrin: Nah, I'll stay between spear lady and y'all. Blaze: Yeah, I was planning on continuing to leap from the galley to the top of the cargo next anyways. Orrin_Torrin: I guess I could jump and just stay in the back. Varis: you're a druid can you throw a flock of birds at her Orrin_Torrin: Since I have a move. Orrin_Torrin: But it woudl be pretty sad to hit her that hard and then fail my jump check. Orrin_Torrin: And die. Blaze: I think there's too much wind for flocks of birds to keep with the train very well. Varis: wolves then Igfig: up to you Orrin Orrin_Torrin: I'll stay. Igfig: kay Igfig: okay... Blaze, you can see that the door to the cargo car is basically gone Orrin_Torrin: Varis if you could dink her with something before you go. Igfig: and there are definitely some people inside Varis: THERE ARE OTHER HEISTERS Blaze: Plus Orrin has her handled pretty well so far, and we have a cargo to get a hold of, and there was an explosion between the galley and the cargo. Varis: yeah I'm gunna Orrin_Torrin: I would message the ship now. Orrin_Torrin: This shit is out loud now anyway. Varis: do you want lots of fire Varis: or just magic missile Blaze: Right, I'm assuming shards aren't flammable right? Igfig: they're pretty stable Blaze: So we have nothing to worry about when it comes to excess flame in the cargo cart right? Orrin_Torrin: whatever you think is best. Orrin_Torrin: I think we have a leg up on her for now, you may want to hold onto the good stuff. Blaze: WAIT! Varis: im gunna #blaze it Varis: ? Igfig: you are probably okay, unless there is other cargo Orrin_Torrin: Hahahaha. Blaze: The cart is all made of metal right? Igfig: that is more flammable Igfig: it is yes Blaze: I can use Heat Metal on that entire cart. Igfig: haha Varis: cook whoever is inside Varis: thats great Orrin_Torrin: I like it. Orrin_Torrin: do it. Varis: preheat them to 375 degrees Igfig: but I think you'd have to use a higher-level slot for that Orrin_Torrin: Worth. Igfig: normally it's only a medium-size object Blaze: Yar, so either use up my 4th level spell slot for it, or one of my 3rd levels. Orrin_Torrin: Varis you might want to post up at the back of the car you're on in case they try to take the door out. Varis: use 4 i think Blaze: It'd probably take my 4th level, so I'd be trading it for my wall of fire. Igfig: I'd say level 3 for part of the car, or 4 for the whole thing Varis: DO THE WHOLE THING Varis: blaze it Orrin_Torrin: Since I'm the tank and we're probably gonna have to fight these dicks in a tight hallway, I'd rather not see any walls of fire. Blaze: So let's think a moment, I would do 5d8 damage to everyone inside that car for a single round, or wall of fire would do... Igfig: 3d8 Fortuna: Igfig, 3d8: [7, 2, 3] = 12 Igfig: er Igfig: you would do 3d8 with this, because you're increasing the area instead of the intensity Blaze: Heat metal increases damage with the higher levels you cast it at. Ah, alright. Blaze: and wall of fire lasts up to a full minute and I can end it at any time. Igfig: this is just houserule stuff Orrin_Torrin: Well I guess it's your call. Varis: i vote use heat metal Orrin_Torrin: I just like the heat metal thing because it's inventive. Varis: ya Blaze: And can do 5d8 each turn. Orrin_Torrin: And this campaign seems really fun and/or kooky. Varis: no Varis: serious Varis: super serious Varis: remember Blaze: Also the risk of burning stuff in there we don't want to burn though, heat metal is a bit safer. Blaze: so yeah, we'll go with the Heat Metal. Igfig: okay, spend a fate point and it'll deal 5d8 Orrin_Torrin: How many chances are you going to have to cook a bunch of bandits in a train car? Varis: we ARE bandits orrin Blaze: Oh I'll spend a fate point on that, makes sense since I Play with Fire as well. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah but I don't think he wants to cook us in a train car. Orrin_Torrin: Yet. Igfig: oh yeah, without that aspect you wouldn't be able to do this at all Blaze: Heehee. Blaze: But yeah, suppose I should roll damage then. Igfig: yup Blaze: 5d8 Fortuna: Blaze, 5d8: [4, 5, 7, 6, 8] = 30 Varis: so they take Igfig: welp Blaze: Very solid. Varis: 30 damage every turn Varis: or Blaze: It only lasts a single round. Varis: okay Igfig: just for one round Blaze: It's still 30 damage to everyone inside there though. Igfig: but you hear a lot of people screaming from inside Varis: thats pretty gruesome bro Varis: yur fucked up Blaze: And that's quite a bit of damage. Igfig: yeah, I think you killed most of them Varis: that was HARDCORE Orrin_Torrin: You also rolled a straight. Orrin_Torrin: That was incredible. Blaze: Oh hey I did, fun. Igfig: this is not something you can do in 4e Blaze: Yar. Varis: so its my turn then? Igfig: I think so, yeah Varis: alright Blaze: Yeah, I moved over to the end of the galley cart, and cooked the cargo cart. Varis: I WHIP OUT MY DUEL WANDS Varis: nah Varis: i whip out one Orrin_Torrin: Orrin, whose attention was focused pretty heavily on the spear lady who whiffed him with a halberd, briefly turns to look at the source of the screaming. Varis: well Orrin_Torrin: "Holy shit." Varis: actually sure i whip out both Orrin_Torrin: SNIKT. Orrin_Torrin: Three things. Orrin_Torrin: On each hand. Orrin_Torrin: So. Orrin_Torrin: Six things, technically. Varis: and I launch a scorching ray from one at the lady Varis: thats 3 rays at her Igfig: right Varis: 3#1d20+6 for each ray Fortuna: Varis, for each ray: [17] = 23; for each ray: [1] = 7; for each ray: [11] = 17 Varis: well one went way the fuck wide Orrin_Torrin: Murdered an innocent bird. Varis: poor guy Igfig: don't forget, she's prone Igfig: so you have disafdvantage there Varis: right so disadanvtage Varis: so roll 3 more? Igfig: yeah Varis: 3#1d20+6 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+6: [3] = 9; 1d20+6: [7] = 13; 1d20+6: [8] = 14 Varis: bluh Igfig: one hits Igfig: the 14 Varis: my damage is 2d6 Igfig: yep Varis: so i apply my Int bonus at all to that Varis: or proficiency Igfig: nope Varis: oh wait Igfig: just 2d6 Blaze: Also new music cause of what I just did. Varis: wait never mind to that oh wait Varis: 2d6 Fortuna: Varis, 2d6: [3, 6] = 9 Orrin_Torrin: oh I didn't add proficiency to my attack rolls. Blaze: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me3Me0jikwE Orrin_Torrin: Not that it ended up mattering. Varis: so she gets pretty burned by it Varis: THEN Varis: I USE Varis: SONG OF THE SORCELATOR Varis: and whip out a sick guitar solo Varis: actually no Igfig: ehm? Igfig: you can't use that here Igfig: that was not a cantrip Varis: it lets me cast a second cantrip Varis: oh it has to be a cantrip first too Varis: oky Igfig: yeah, it lets you cast two cantrips at once basically, and you take a penalty to both Varis: okay Varis: in that case Varis: I turn and run towards the huge explosion Igfig: aight Blaze: Or maybe a different song. Igfig: you see someone stick their head out of a window as you pass Igfig: then a crossbow Varis: shooting a crossbown out of a moving train says disavantage to me cause of wind Igfig: yep Igfig: 2#1d20+2 vs AC Fortuna: Igfig, vs AC: [14] = 16; vs AC: [13] = 15 Varis: it hits Igfig: 1d8+1 damage Fortuna: Igfig, damage: [4] = 5 Varis: alrighty Igfig: also Varis, can I get another Acrobatics check Igfig: for balance as you run Varis: 1d20+1 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+1: [19] = 20 Orrin_Torrin: Bakker,. Igfig: ok yeah you're fine Orrin_Torrin: Baller* Varis: i do a tap dance on the roof for god measure Varis: good* Blaze: If anything it looks like taking a crossbow bolt helped you gain your balance. Orrin_Torrin: Hahaha. Orrin_Torrin: He was tipping over, and the impact straightened him out. Blaze: What a helpful sniper. Igfig: as you get to where Blaze is, you both see the door to the galley open, and what appears to be one of the chefs wedge a block in the door (looks like it came loose in the explosion) Igfig: moustachey fellow, Aundarian-looking Blaze: Oh hey, I just realized Guided by the Winds is also a fire thing, oh man that one was sneaky. Igfig: so vaguely french Igfig: and you can see a bunch more guys dressed as cooks readying weapons Varis: the other bandits are disguised as cooks Igfig: looks like they found a different way to deal with the cooks Varis: that was OUR plan Igfig: yep Varis: what jerks Orrin_Torrin: Dicks. Orrin_Torrin: Burn them. Varis: i shall Igfig: anyway! Orrin_Torrin: #BLAZEIT Igfig: It's the lady's turn Blaze: I do have a 3rd level heat metal available still, but we're standing on top of the metal that would be heated, so that wouldn't be healthy. Blaze: I've got flame sphere too though. Varis: honestly i can just throw a magic missile their wah Varis: way* Igfig: She does one of those spinning-get-up moves that looks like breakdancing Varis: neato Blaze: Wicked. Varis: does she kick orrin in his dumb face Orrin_Torrin: "Wanna try again?" Blaze: She seems more skilled then the rest of these guys, if only cause she is doing spinning-get-up moves. Blaze: And is also attacking solo. Varis: dangerous break dancing Orrin_Torrin: Yeah but so far she's... fallen down and gotten hit with a hammer. Blaze: We can't all be Blazing. Varis: and a ray of fire Igfig: she looks like she's about to, but what actually happens is her spear turns into a falchion mid-spin, and suddenly what looked like just getting up is an attack Orrin_Torrin: YES. Orrin_Torrin: Dibs. Blaze: Oh wicked. Varis: this woman is way too wicked rad for us guys Varis: we are WAY out of our league Igfig: she's spending a Fate point to invoke her Wielder of a Dynamic Blade aspect Blaze: I feel like we are the hitch in a Shadowrunner operation, only this is Eberron. Igfig: for advantage Orrin_Torrin: Don't worry, I have a SWEET plan for this. Igfig: 2#1d20+6 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+6: [12] = 18; 1d20+6: [1] = 7 Varis: oh hey im playing shadowrun right now blaze Igfig quit. Orrin_Torrin: Does 18 hit 18? Igfig joined #pwot_dnd. Blaze: Oops. Orrin_Torrin: Or is it a miss still. Varis: igfig got upset tht i wasplaying another game Igfig: gaah stop that Blaze: Also probably since it meets it. Orrin_Torrin: My AC is 18 ig. Igfig: my browser is being jerk Orrin_Torrin: Is that a hit? Igfig: hmm Orrin_Torrin: Or does she need to beat it? Blaze: That's how it worked in 4e and other ones I think. Igfig: oke sec Igfig: one sec Blaze: The meeting it bit. Igfig quit. Igfig joined #pwot_dnd. Varis: he n needs time alone to think about that Igfig: okay so she rolled an 18 right? That is a hit vs AC 18 Igfig: 1d8+3d6+3 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d8+3d6+3: [3, 5, 6, 2] = 19 Igfig: and /then/ she kicks you in the face Blaze: Like, we're just a bunch of random pirates, and these guys are either the guys guarding the cargo or considering the explosion some House paid guys after the same thing as us. Varis: they arent very subtle Igfig: 2#1d20+4 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+4: [5] = 9; 1d20+4: [10] = 14 Blaze: Neither are we. Igfig: but misses with that Varis: i bet the entirety of 3rd class is pirates Orrin_Torrin: Terrible kicks. Orrin_Torrin: Every person on this train is a disguised pirate. Varis: even the conductor Blaze: The train itself is a pirate, a giant secret warframe. Orrin_Torrin: The entire cargo car is a warforged. Varis: and you just heated it up Varis: and burned shit Igfig: anyway, I think it's Orrin's turn now Orrin_Torrin: It is indeed. Varis: ya Blaze: More of a baked really. Orrin_Torrin: I'm going to whack her shit again. Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+4: [8] = 12 Varis: wait Igfig: nope Varis: what about blaze Blaze: Not even long enough for a batch of cookies. Varis: he rolled a 20 Igfig: oh Blaze: Orrin is after everyone else though I thought? Orrin_Torrin: Oh yeah he kind of folded into the order weird. Igfig: oh yeah Igfig: we did order things weird Igfig: yeah okay, Blaze first, then Orrin, then Varis? Varis: yea Orrin_Torrin: So should Blaze go? Varis: ya Orrin_Torrin: Or should I take my second attack? Igfig: yeah Blaze: But I thinkw e skipped one of Orrin's turns if I go next then. Igfig: but I'm keeping that roll you did Orrin Orrin_Torrin: Or is that just not my turn. Orrin_Torrin: Okay. Igfig: take your second attack on your turn Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I went before Blaze. Orrin_Torrin: And then he rolled init. Orrin_Torrin: It was weird. Igfig: oh well Blaze: Yeah, I'd consider that a round before me and Varis joined in. Orrin_Torrin: Blaze, cook those cooks./ Orrin_Torrin: Oh Ig. Orrin_Torrin: I have proficiency with warhammer.s Orrin_Torrin: So that's actually a 15. Orrin_Torrin: It that matters. Igfig: oh! then that is a hit Orrin_Torrin: CAN I FINISH MY TURN., Orrin_Torrin: This is going to be so cool guys. Varis: this is revealing to me that i need to switch up my fate aspects Igfig: I guess so Blaze: Yar, I'd say let him finish his turn. Varis: since i just realized that none of them apply to combat at all Orrin_Torrin: So that does 1d10+4 Orrin_Torrin: 1d10+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d10+4: [4] = 8 Varis: and are pretty out there Igfig: and then what? Orrin_Torrin: And then, as she reels back from the weight of my blow. Orrin_Torrin: I brandish my holy symbol on the head of my hammer in a homerun windup. Orrin_Torrin: And use my Thunderous Smite. Varis: and strike out Orrin_Torrin: DC 16. Igfig: 1d20+6 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+6: [19] = 25 Orrin_Torrin: Yeezus. Igfig: uh, that was a Dex save I assume? Blaze: Nope. Igfig: I mean, it doesn't matter with that roll Blaze: Strength. Igfig: so it's just a 20 then Igfig: but she still passes Blaze: So still yar. Orrin_Torrin: Well anyway. Orrin_Torrin: So. Orrin_Torrin: I guess I'll just spin around an duse my second attack. Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+7 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+7: [1] = 8 Orrin_Torrin: And fall on my face. Varis: STRIKE OUT Blaze: She still takes the damage. Blaze: From the thunderous smite Blaze: Or, wait. Blaze: Yeah, the strength save is only for the knocking back and prone effect. Igfig: yeah, ok Orrin_Torrin: Yeah it adds its damage to my attack, I forgot that. Orrin_Torrin: 2d6 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 2d6: [1, 5] = 6 Orrin_Torrin: And there is a big ol' thunderclap. Igfig: ohh, that was an aftereffect, okay Orrin_Torrin: And then I fall on my face. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I was reading it as a second attack. Igfig: so she uses her reaction to halve the damage from that attack then Orrin_Torrin: But I guess it's just in addition to my attack. Orrin_Torrin: If I'd hit, would you have let me knock her off the train? Igfig: anyway, that critical miss... make another Acrobatics check Orrin_Torrin: 1d20 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20: [12] = 12 Igfig: quite possibly Orrin_Torrin: Man, I wanted it so bad. Orrin_Torrin: I thought a 16 DC was sitting pretty. Igfig: do you have disadvantage from your armour, Orrin? Orrin_Torrin: I'm not sure. Igfig: oh no, that's just Stealth Igfig: never mind Orrin_Torrin: I don't take a speed penalty on account of the dwarven-ness. Orrin_Torrin: So I don't imagine I would. Orrin_Torrin: Oh. Igfig: ok then Orrin_Torrin: So I'm still upright. Blaze: Right, now my turn then. Igfig: well wait a second Blaze: Unless Orrin is going to do any moving? Igfig: that was still a critical miss Blaze: Or Igfig stuff. Orrin_Torrin: I just assumed I was prone. Igfig: so you still fall prone, but you don't go sliding off the side Orrin_Torrin: I approve. Blaze: You still have all your movement too I think, so you could get back up. Orrin_Torrin: Oh yeah. Igfig: the lady's sword gets longer and straighter, and she points toward you in her current position of advantage Orrin_Torrin: I'll clamber awkwardly to my feet. Orrin_Torrin: "Please don't tell anyone about that." Igfig: It seems a bit odd that you can just get up so quickly after that... Varis: he spins like a bayblade on his metal armor Orrin_Torrin: Well she was knocked off balance. Orrin_Torrin: When I hit her. Orrin_Torrin: And there was a deafening thunderclap. Igfig: yeah, I guess so Igfig: you slip but manage to make it back to your feet Blaze: He did a dwarf roll. Igfig: while she's recovering Igfig: you can see now, through a tear in her cloak Orrin_Torrin: Is she hot? Varis: shes an ENTIRE DRAGON Igfig: she has a pin or something, shaped like a lantern Blaze: Nifty. Orrin_Torrin: Also dibs. Blaze: I don't think that is something to dibs really, it's probably a house symbol, they like having those. Igfig: she's, uh, moderately attractive, but she's kinda dressed for a mission and all so she isn't wearing makeup or anything Igfig: oh, dibs on the pin you meant Varis: not sure you can dibs a person Orrin_Torrin: Well, both if she's down. Igfig: anyway, somebody want to make a History or Int check? Blaze: Well neither me nor Varis can see it right now I think. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I guess it would have to be me. Blaze: We're on the other end of the galley cart by the chefs. Igfig: right Varis: i'd be the one to make that i think Orrin_Torrin: 1d20 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20: [7] = 7 Varis: and this is why i should be the one to make it Igfig: okay yeah, you don't know the significance of that pin Orrin_Torrin: "Hey Varis, she has a pin on. Looks like a lantern." Blaze: He can ask you about it later for another try. Igfig: he can't hear you Orrin_Torrin: "HEY VARIS" Varis: besides a lantern could mean a lot of things Varis: i'd need to see the specific pin Orrin_Torrin: I don't suppose it's made of stone. Orrin_Torrin: Or has a stone in it. Igfig: in this setting, it means something very specific Igfig: it is not stone related Orrin_Torrin: Because I do have advantage on checks of or pertaining to stones. Orrin_Torrin: No diamonds? Orrin_Torrin: THIS PIN SUCKS. Varis: worst. pin. ever Igfig: it is quite utilitarian Varis: now Orrin_Torrin: I don't even want this pin anymore. Varis: varu's turn? Igfig: anyway, who's up next Blaze: Me. Varis: :C Igfig: We skipped blaze, yeah Varis: okay Orrin_Torrin: Although actually taking a secret society identifying mark seems like something Orrin would do. Blaze: And I will not be leaping down and transforming into a bear to charge whoever remained in the cargo cart like I had planned since apparently we have dastardly slightly french looking chefs to deal with. Varis: charge the chefs Blaze: Nah, there are a lot of them, I think it is more important to prevent them from giving us trouble with the cargo then it is to maul them as a bear. Blaze: As much fun as mauling may be. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah burn those suckers. Varis: can you block them from getting to the cargo train at all Orrin_Torrin: You and Varis have them in a crossfire right now. Varis: what if Igfig: for no real reason, this music feels appropriate now Igfig: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4VIiVSiioo Varis: orrin Varis: what if you slam the door back shut Varis: and then use your fire orb to weld it shut Blaze: They blocked the door open. Blaze: Also Orrin is back a ways yet. Varis: i meant blaze Varis: you Varis: you do that Orrin_Torrin: This music is actualyl surprisingly appropriate. Blaze: Yar, they blocked the door open, and I don't know if I can heat metal enough to weld a door shut, and if I did, they may have more epxlosives. Orrin_Torrin: Just torch 'em. Varis: i dont think it was the chefs Varis: theres 3 groups here Varis: us Varis: the chefs Orrin_Torrin: They're in chef coats, it can't be that hard. Varis: and the dudes who yuo cooked Blaze: I'm thinking I just park a flaming sphere in the door and leave it at that. Varis: that'll do Varis: they could go back but that'd cost some serious time Varis: and orrin would be right there Orrin_Torrin: And spear lady. Orrin_Torrin: They'd have to get in line. Blaze: Yar, though the dextrous enough of them could pull through probably. Varis: take a number to challenge orrin Varis: that'd take damage i think Varis: from the searing heat Varis: slipping an inch past a flaming orb Varis: seering? Varis: hm Varis: well you get the idea Blaze: Searing I think. Igfig: okay Orrin_Torrin: Plus a strong argument could be made that Varis would get OA against anyone coming out of the door he's 2 feet above. Blaze: But either way I plop a Flaming Sphere in the blocked open door to the galley. Varis: that is true Varis: could I go into overwatch there Igfig: sure Varis: well Varis: if the sphere is there I'll just attack some stuff instead Varis: that's kinda funny Blaze: And I think, yeah. Varis: chefs are about to come through Orrin_Torrin: I don't think you have to do anything special to get OA against targets moving past you. Varis: nope, flaming sphere Varis: alright so there may be guys still in the cargo hold Varis: I think it'd be best if I moved into there Igfig: you hear nobody at all in the cargo hold Varis: well Orrin_Torrin: Maybe at least poke your head in. Blaze: I shall then leap down through the opening into the cargo hold. Igfig: sure Varis: yeah Orrin_Torrin: Blaze. Orrin_Torrin: With your move. Varis: yeah Igfig: okay, make an acrobatics check Igfig: just to see how well you land this Varis: go for the fourth 20 Blaze: 1d20 Fortuna: Blaze, 1d20: [6] = 6 Orrin_Torrin: Don't forget, you haven't actually used your Wind thing yet. Varis: PFFPFPFPFPFPTTT Blaze: But wait! Orrin_Torrin: You could Fate it for advantage. Varis: the wind pushes him through Igfig: yeah, get that reroll Blaze: I don't know if my aspects would work for this one. Varis: the wind helps guide you in Igfig: I'll say it works fine Orrin_Torrin: I'd think the hard part would be compensating for the wind. Orrin_Torrin: Otherwise you're just dropping a couple feet. Blaze: I was thinking transform into a tiger while leaping down perhaps, or even a bear has a higher dex score then me. Igfig: oh sur Orrin_Torrin: COOL. Varis: like an animorph Orrin_Torrin: Man all Willem ever did was shoot wind at people. Orrin_Torrin: 5e druids are way cooler. Varis: like Varis: farting? Varis: oh Orrin_Torrin: Yeah, all of his attacks came out of his ass. Orrin_Torrin: I think we established that in the first session. Blaze: Though if I'm using the same roll the tiger form only would bring it up to an 8, it doesn't have any bonus to acrobatics actually. Varis: still better Blaze: So we'll re-roll it and turn into a slightly tankier bear. Orrin_Torrin: My take on it would be you realized you made a shitty jumped. Orrin_Torrin: Then turned into a tiger. Orrin_Torrin: And roll a separate landing. Orrin_Torrin: To recover from your shitty jump. Blaze: What does Igfig think? Igfig: Rerolling just from turning into a bear, I dunno Orrin_Torrin: Otherwise I'd just eat the landing, see what you see, and then transform into the appropriate form. Orrin_Torrin: Well not a bear. Orrin_Torrin: but a tiger? Blaze: Well if I do the bear thing I'm using a fate point. Orrin_Torrin: Tiger's are GREAT at jumping on things. Varis: oh man you know what i just realized i forgot to take an extra cantrip from my high elf race Igfig: ditto tiger Blaze: If I do the tiger thing that Orrin is suggesting then yar. Orrin_Torrin: Tigers* Igfig: but you could do something with an aspect to get that reroll Igfig: as it is you'll just land, but somewhat awkwardly Orrin_Torrin: You're inside the car, so I doubt anything too bad is gonna happen to you if you just eat a bad roll. Varis: meh Varis: do that Varis: yeha Igfig: okay Blaze: Yar, or if I want to save my fate points I could transform into a panther, that'd get me to a sizeable bonus to acrobatics but also isn't as good as a bear or a tiger. Blaze: But yeah we'll just land and wait to see. Varis: but panthers are cool Varis: so i reccomend that Igfig: well, let me say Igfig: some of the guys inside the galley do have crossbows Blaze: Right. Orrin_Torrin: Don't they have a locked door and an orb of flame to deal with now? Varis: not locked Igfig: and if your Acrobatics is less than 10, they'll have advantage I think to hit you for a few moments after you land Varis: but a big flaming orb yar Igfig: they are taking a cover penalty because of the orb though Varis: i can reaction a shield down to you blaze Blaze: Right, so still probably best to not have a crappy roll. Igfig: but it's not that tall, it doesn't fill the door Varis: i say eat the roll Blaze: I have 4 fate points left though. Varis: cover + disavantage + my shield Varis: well Varis: sure yeah you're right Orrin_Torrin: Yeah just fate it. Blaze: cause I have a feat for more fate points. Blaze: So seeing as I was getting along with being Guided by the Wind, as I fall down I spread my cloak a bit to catch it as I go down. Blaze: 1d20 Fortuna: Blaze, 1d20: [8] = 8 Varis: UNBELIEVABLE Blaze: While transforming into a tiger to give myself a dex bonus to hit 10. Varis: all this talking Varis: and an 8 Orrin_Torrin: Now the tiger gets you to 10 though. Varis: oh oay Igfig: well, if you turn into anything with a better Dex, you'll be fine Igfig: yeah Varis: yayyy Igfig: and you land just right Orrin_Torrin: Snarling menacingly. Igfig: the two guys do shoot at you Orrin_Torrin: Like you meant it all along. Igfig: 2#1d20+2-2 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+2-2: [7] = 7; 1d20+2-2: [15] = 15 Blaze: Yup. Igfig: but they don't have advantage Varis: blaze want my sheild Igfig: any hits? Varis: he has cover ig Igfig: that was the -2 Varis: oh hte -2 yar Blaze: Also are those 2 separate guys right? One of them htis but I don't think your shield would stop the hit that happens. Varis: okay so i cant reaction a shield spell that gives +4 to ac if you are worried about that damage Blaze: Oh, ti would actually, but nah I'm fine still. Varis: can* Varis: oka Igfig: all right Igfig: 1d8+1 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d8+1: [7] = 8 Blaze: My tiger form comes with 42 hit points on top of my own. Blaze: 34 remaining. Orrin_Torrin: Holy shit. Blaze: I'm my own meat shield. Orrin_Torrin: My wolf form came with... the appearance of a wolf! Igfig: okay Varis: okay is it finally varus Igfig: hmm Igfig: yes Varis: cause im ready to wreck shit Varis: yay Blaze: Yar, druid's wild form got a nice buff this version I'd say. Varis: how close are the chefs Varis: within 15 feet? Igfig: sure Varis: yay Varis: okay Blaze: At the cost of more limited uses, and having to specialize to get the battle forms. Varis: so I drop down to between the two carts Varis: i dont think that needs a roll since im not jumping just climbing down Varis: and now Varis: If I cast thunderwave, it will blast them back 10 feet Varis: HOWEVER Varis: it also blasts objects Varis: namely the flaming orb Orrin_Torrin: Hahahaha. Orrin_Torrin: YES. Varis: so i can fling that at them ontop of it Blaze: I can move the flaming orb too if we need to. Blaze: It takes an action but it is possible. Varis: you're also going to get hit blaze Orrin_Torrin: No. Orrin_Torrin: Blaze is in the cargo car. Varis: that's where I am Orrin_Torrin: You're pushing them back into the kitchen. Varis: it hits in a sphere around me Orrin_Torrin: Ohhh. Blaze: Ah, but it'd just push me further into the cargo car then. Varis: however Varis: i have an ability that lets you have advantage on the roll to avoid the hit Varis: cause you my bro Orrin_Torrin: That's pretty boss. Orrin_Torrin: We need to get Ben that ability. Varis: oh no you just auto succeed it Varis: great Varis: congrats you dont get hit Varis: NOW THEN Igfig: actually, a cube is not aburst Varis: DC 17 constitution check on the chefs to avoid getting flung back 10 feet Igfig: it's more like a blast Blaze: Oh hey, that means you don't have to hit me. Igfig: so it's just in one direction Igfig: yeah Blaze: Yay. Orrin_Torrin: Neat! Varis: alrighty then Igfig: all right, so saves Blaze: The constitituion check is also for half damage. Varis: and is not pushed Igfig: 5#1d20+1, 1d20+1 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+1, 1d20+1: [14, 15] = (15, 16); 1d20+1, 1d20+1: [1, 18] = (2, 19); 1d20+1, 1d20+1: [12, 11] = (13, 12); 1d20+1, 1d20+1: [5, 15] = (6, 16); 1d20+1, 1d20+1: [20, 8] = (21, 9) Igfig: woooops Igfig: ignore that Varis: uh Varis: uh Varis: uh Igfig: I screwed up Igfig: 5#1d20+1; 1d20+1 Orrin_Torrin: I'm not gonna make her take it because I forgot and it was forever ago, but spear lady should've taken 4 damage from my missed attack earlier. Igfig: and that wasn't anything hm Orrin_Torrin: On account of my Great Weapon Fighting trait. Igfig: 6#1d20+1 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+1: [20] = 21; 1d20+1: [1] = 2; 1d20+1: [20] = 21; 1d20+1: [15] = 16; 1d20+1: [17] = 18; 1d20+1: [2] = 3 Igfig: two twenties, wow Varis: and a 1 Igfig: yeah Varis: so two guys take half damage Orrin_Torrin: That guy is blasted into the knife rack. Varis: and one guy takes full? Varis: oh no 3 take half Igfig: what's the DC again? Varis: 17 Orrin_Torrin: 17. Igfig: three take half, three take full Igfig: roll damage Varis: what about that dude who got the 1 Orrin_Torrin: He should take 1d6. Varis: okay Orrin_Torrin: For being blasted into something sharp. Varis: so thats Varis: 2d8 Fortuna: Varis, 2d8: [8, 4] = 12 Igfig: he gets the flaming sphere right on top of him Varis: three take 6 and 3 take 12 Orrin_Torrin: Oh nice. Varis: and then the flaming sphere is blasted at them Orrin_Torrin: What's the orb's damage? Varis: blaze? Orrin_Torrin: I think he's saying the guy with the 1 is directly hit by the orb. Igfig: I think 2d6 Varis: yeah but they all take damage i think Varis: from having a flaming orb being flung at them Blaze: It does 2d6 to anyone starting their turn within 5 feet of it, dex save for half. Blaze: It also lights stuff nearby on fire. Igfig: so I guess that's 5 dex saves Varis: ya Orrin_Torrin: We're too busy to notice, but the flaming orb just cooked the chicken to PERFECTION. Varis: do tigers have exceptional hearing Igfig: 4#1d20+1 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+1: [19] = 20; 1d20+1: [13] = 14; 1d20+1: [11] = 12; 1d20+1: [4] = 5 Igfig: 1d20+3 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+3: [5] = 8 Blaze: It ignites flammable items and emits bright light in a 20 foot radius, and dim light in a larger radius. Igfig: well, uh Igfig: I think all but two of them are dead Varis: YEEEEAAAAHHH Igfig: or unconscious at least Orrin_Torrin: Awesome. Varis: that ws awesome Orrin_Torrin: Nice one. Varis: also one last thing Blaze: I suppose that'd be my dc for the flame sphere bit right? Varis: which is why im asking Igfig: yeah Varis: how acute is the tiger's hearing Blaze: In which case the dc is 14. Igfig: what is the DC Blaze: So 2 get half. Varis: because this thing elts out a MASSIVE boom Varis: to be haerd within 300 feet Igfig: oh, so three survive Varis: and since the tiger is right there id imagine he'd get it pretty hard Igfig: oh, what was the damage actually Varis: the damage for thunderwave is 2d8 Orrin_Torrin: Yeah roll the d6es. Blaze: 2d6 Fortuna: Blaze, 2d6: [4, 1] = 5 Varis: what oh Blaze: Not much. Blaze: This time, when their turns start though, yar. Igfig: yeah Igfig: So two guys with short swords Igfig: and one guy with... huh, he looks like a wizard Varis: so whose next Varis: IM THE ONLY WIZARD AROUND THESE PARTS Varis: HOLD ME BACK BLAZE Varis: *swings arms* Orrin_Torrin: Don't hold him back. Igfig: Ray of Enfeeblement at Blaze Varis: dicks Blaze: Oh wait, I forgot to do something: Igfig: make a Dex save Igfig: oh? Igfig: hehe Varis: igfig Igfig: yes? Varis: ray of enfeeblement is a ranged attack roll Varis: not a dex save Igfig: huh, it say in this bestiary entry it's a dex save Igfig: weird Igfig: okay then Varis: I'd say use the entry then Blaze_Tiger: Might be different for creatures then players. Varis: yeah Orrin_Torrin: That's probably it. Igfig: mayhap Blaze_Tiger: 1d20+2 then? Fortuna: Blaze_Tiger, then?: [19] = 21 Varis: do a tiger twist around the beam Igfig: well you totally dodge it anywah Varis: god damn blaze Blaze_Tiger: Also for funsies, my tiger stripes look like flames instead of regular tiger stripes, cause yar. Igfig: hah Varis: neat Igfig: okay so Igfig: right, guys with knives Orrin_Torrin: Also, don't all those guys take the damage. Varis: they are CHEFS igfig Igfig: er, big knives/short swords Orrin_Torrin: When their turns start. Igfig: well sure they are chefs Varis: a chef is not a guy with a knife Igfig: but really they're clearly aundarian agents Varis: it is an HONORABLE PROFESSION Varis: so shadowrunners Orrin_Torrin: Aundarian agents who started their turn next to a flame sphere. Blaze_Tiger: 2d6 for start of their turn within 5 feet of flaming sphere? Fortuna: Blaze_Tiger, for start of their turn within 5 feet of flaming sphere?: [5, 1] = 6 Igfig: I think they already took that damage Blaze_Tiger: Alrighty then. Varis: yeah they did Orrin_Torrin: They took it when it blasted into them. Varis: thats why theres only 3 guys left Varis: two swords and wizard Blaze_Tiger: It was a pretty even cooking temp so far anyways. Varis: the chickens are cooked perfectly Igfig: so they charge at... Varis I guess? He'd be closer Varis: we can heist the kitchen too Varis: yeha i am Igfig: 2#1d20+3 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+3: [4] = 7; 1d20+3: [14] = 17 Varis: yehaw i sure am Igfig: vs AC Varis: ourch Varis: I'll reaction Orrin_Torrin: That chicken smells great. Varis: a glowing blue shield appears around me Varis: causing the sword to bounce off Igfig: nice Igfig: and now... top of the order? Orrin_Torrin: Aye. Varis: yup Blaze_Tiger: Alrighty, mauling time. Orrin_Torrin: "So uh... nice pin." Varis: just KILL HER Varis: we can look at the pin later Igfig: I don't remember if Blaze or the lady actually goes first Blaze_Tiger: I don't know. Varis: blaze went already Orrin_Torrin: Blaze had the highest roll. Igfig: ok Blaze_Tiger: I rolled a straight 20. Blaze_Tiger: That was last round. Varis: lets just take him as after orrin Varis: that 20 was a surprise round Blaze_Tiger: I think you are confused Waffle. Varis: I'm not waffle I'm peter Igfig: I suppose it's just easier having the two battles separated Varis: orrin is waffle Orrin_Torrin: Orrin is Erik. Blaze_Tiger: That would make some sense. Varis: then whose peter Igfig: wait, then who am I Orrin_Torrin: As long as she has no ability to hit them while I'm here, I'm down for us to be fighting separately. Varis: yeah the fights should be seperate Blaze_Tiger: I think none of us should be Peter, that way we don't peter out. Igfig: har har Varis: alright Igfig: okay, so it's the lady's turn Igfig: she says Blaze_Tiger: Oh man, I know what music to switch to for my next turn. Igfig: "In the name of the King, I am placing you under arrest. Drop your weapon and stand down." Igfig: do you immediately comply Orrin_Torrin: I do not. Blaze_Tiger: Ah, I'm thinking she's not with the chefs then. Orrin_Torrin: "I uh... pass." Igfig: Ranseur to your hammer, then Blaze_Tiger: Also I just noticed in the blaze heatnix side links, a Megaman Dies at the End movie, fun. Igfig: Opposed attack roll, I think Igfig: trying to disarm you Igfig: 1d20+6 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+6: [12] = 18 Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+7 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+7: [3] = 10 Orrin_Torrin: Well, shit. Varis: so does hammer go flying off the train Igfig: Your hammer flies out of your hands and skitters down the roof... Igfig: but stops just at the edge Varis: or does it luckily come right down into the gap between the carts and smacks blaze in his dumb tiger face Igfig: she lunges at you for a second blow Igfig: 1d20+6 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+6: [17] = 23 Blaze_Tiger: You're closer to his hammer then I am. Varis: im between the carts Orrin_Torrin: Hit. Varis: if it was flung back the momentum would carry it into the cargo Igfig: 1d10+3 damage Fortuna: Igfig, damage: [1] = 4 Orrin_Torrin: Oh no. Igfig: unless you think she'd have advantage there Igfig: probably not Orrin_Torrin: I doubt it. Orrin_Torrin: She probably put a lot into getting the hammer out of my hands. Igfig: yeah Orrin_Torrin: So me? Igfig: yes you Orrin_Torrin: I pull a scrap of paper out of a patch at my waist. Orrin_Torrin: It is emblazoned with the seal of Kol Korron. Orrin_Torrin: And contains some faintly glowing text. Orrin_Torrin: In a booming voice, I read from the scroll. Orrin_Torrin: DC16 to save against fear. Igfig: what ability Orrin_Torrin: I guess that'd be... wis? Orrin_Torrin: Abjure enemy. Igfig: Fear would be either Wis or Cha I think Igfig: wis prolly Orrin_Torrin: Yeah it says wis. Orrin_Torrin: In the text. Igfig: 1d20+2 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+2: [19] = 21 Igfig: phew Orrin_Torrin: THIS WOMAN. Orrin_Torrin: GOD DAMMIT. Varis: want me to launch a magic missile up there Blaze_Tiger: Is getting some really good rolls, yeah. Igfig: yeah, I guess the wind likes her too Orrin_Torrin: It would probably be helpful. Orrin_Torrin: For now I guess I'll run away and grab my hammer. Varis: well too bad Blaze_Tiger: She is wearing a cloak that is flapping in it, wind loves flappy stuff I'd think. Orrin_Torrin: While she shrugs off the effects of my failed abjure. Igfig: hehe Orrin_Torrin: I assume she's getting an OA. Igfig: aye Igfig: 1d20+6 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+6: [14] = 20 Blaze_Tiger: You could wait Blaze_Tiger: Disengage and then go for it. Igfig: 1d10+3 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d10+3: [10] = 13 Igfig: ouch Blaze_Tiger: You move half your speed with a disengage and avoid oas I think. Orrin_Torrin: Wait what is this disengaging he's talking about. Orrin_Torrin: How far away is my hammer? Varis: its like a shift Igfig: it takes a full action to do Orrin_Torrin: Oh. Blaze_Tiger: It's 5e's version of a shift, ah. Blaze_Tiger: Yeah can't do that then. Orrin_Torrin: Well then I guess I'll just eat 13 more damage. But at least I have my hammer. Igfig: your hammer is within one move Igfig: yep Igfig: she stays close on your tail as you go Igfig: you're now both right on the edge of the carriage Orrin_Torrin: If you could roll something less than like a 15 just once this fight, I'd really appreciate it. Igfig: a slip from either of you would send you hurtling off the train Orrin_Torrin: GOOD. Igfig: and who's up now? Blaze? Varis: i think yar Blaze_Tiger: And now it is time for this: Igfig: You're inside the cargo car now, yeah? Blaze_Tiger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b82WavFKbOY Igfig: nice Blaze_Tiger: Yup, behind Varis. Igfig: In here there are the dead or unconscious body of six people Igfig: three chefs, and three half-orcs you take to be the Tharashk guards Igfig: all well-scorched Varis: so he just cooked everyone in that cargo hold Igfig: anyhoo Varis: poor dudes Igfig: yep Blaze_Tiger: Yup. Varis: the chefs were innocent Igfig: "chefs" Varis: unless they were REALLY DEVIOUS chefs Igfig: these were more of the not good chefs Blaze_Tiger: Or they were the initial wave of the devious guys who charged in after blowing the door. Varis: oh okay Varis: yeah Varis: didnt think of that Blaze_Tiger: either way: Igfig: there were no real cooks on board the train Varis: what if we wanted food?! Igfig: you were all doomed to terrible meals Blaze_Tiger: Death is a part of the natural cycle, and considering there are still guys trying to kill us, time for some more. Varis: noooooo Varis: launch a spell past me at the other chefs Orrin_Torrin: Actually those impostors made a mean Ribeye. Varis: throw a flock of birds at themk Blaze_Tiger: I'm going to make my way over to the sword guys by Varis and then use my muti-attack. Blaze_Tiger: I can't do that kind of stuff in tiger form, no casting spells, only maintaining spells. Blaze_Tiger: How are the two of them looking? Cause currently I'm thinking of doing one attack each. Igfig: they are both looking pretty beat up Varis: you know Varis: you dont have to Blaze_Tiger: Right, carrying on then. Varis: i have magic missile that can hit 3 targets Blaze_Tiger: I have Rules of Nature playing right now. Varis: you have to do something Orrin_Torrin: Slash em. Blaze_Tiger: I think I have to. Varis: okay Igfig: yeah, and the wizard still looks fairly strong right now Orrin_Torrin: I want this woman now. Orrin_Torrin: SHE MADE IT PERSONAL. Blaze_Tiger: So in the process of my multi-attack it shall be one claw and one bite, I go running and leap into the air to land my claws into the chest of the first guy and... Blaze_Tiger: Oh wait, can I combine charging and mutli-attack? Blaze_Tiger: I think I might be able to. Orrin_Torrin: It should say if you can. Igfig: normally probably not, but I don't think it matters here Blaze_Tiger: Alright, it was just for a bonus to the claw attack either way. Igfig: so go for cool Blaze_Tiger: 1d20+5 vs. AC first guy claws time. Fortuna: Blaze_Tiger, vs. AC first guy claws time.: [2] = 7 Igfig: oh well Orrin_Torrin: Hahaha. Blaze_Tiger: Oh dear. Orrin_Torrin: You jump right over him. Orrin_Torrin: In your haste to bite the wizard. Blaze_Tiger: And I don't see any fate pointing that one, but ah well. Varis: and smash into the well done chickens Blaze_Tiger: So he ducks to the side cause oh fuck a tiger, and landing I then leap for the other guy fangs bearing for his throat... Blaze_Tiger: 1d20+5 Fortuna: Blaze_Tiger, 1d20+5: [9] = 14 Igfig: That is enough Blaze_Tiger: Right, now I can choose between 8 damage or rolling 2d4+3, I think I'll just go with the 8 damage this time. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I'd stick with that. Orrin_Torrin: You're not very likely to beat it. Igfig: well I think normally you as a player always roll, the flat number is just for if the DM wants to streamline things Blaze_Tiger: Ah. Igfig: but it doesn't matter, because either way he's well and dead Igfig: head separated Blaze_Tiger: Also it does piercing damage, but that doesn't matter for this either I think. Igfig: correct Igfig: all right, that's one down, two to go Varis: i have a great idea Varis: i think I'm gunna cast blight at the woman instead Varis: 8d8 damage Fortuna: Varis, damage: [8, 1, 6, 4, 8, 2, 5, 1] = 35 Blaze_Tiger: Too bad I missed that first guy, if I had gotten both it would have been more fitting for the music. Varis: does that sound fun orrin Orrin_Torrin: Nooo. Igfig: a few questions Orrin_Torrin: I want to knock her off the train. Igfig: can you even see her Igfig: what is the save Varis: id have to climb up Varis: con save Blaze_Tiger: Probably not since he is down in the cargo thing. Varis: but orrin wants to toss her off Orrin_Torrin: I think you'd be climbing right into my ass, also. Varis: so i think its fine Igfig: and what is the range Varis: 10 feet Blaze_Tiger: And there is still a sword guy between you and the ladder. Varis: okay well Varis: i can just cast some magic missiles Orrin_Torrin: If you can give me any kind of attack bonus, I'd take that. Igfig: she is way further away then 10 feet Varis: i cant i dont think Varis: but i can make her easier to kill Varis: so immmm Varis: hmm Blaze_Tiger: How about you deal with the sword guy and that mage guy perhaps? Igfig: she's a full train car away Varis: yeah Varis: okay Varis: I'm gunna cast a 2nd level magic missile Varis: which sends out 4 streams of energy Varis: err Varis: how much specifically does sword guy have left Varis: for his hp Igfig: one hit will kill him Varis: okay Varis: one block of energy hits him Varis: im not gunna bother rolling for that Varis: the other 3 smash into the wizard Varis: 3#1d4+1 Fortuna: Varis, 1d4+1: [2] = 3; 1d4+1: [4] = 5; 1d4+1: [4] = 5 Varis: 13 damage Orrin_Torrin: Bangin'. Varis: anddd Varis: if I move closer to blaze Varis: can I give him a sort of Varis: cover Blaze_Tiger: I'm a tiger. Igfig: and the wizard goes down too Blaze_Tiger: If anyone needs cover, it is you. Varis: like just to block one avenue of attack from the wizard Orrin_Torrin: I think he'll be fine. Varis: oh well okay then Blaze_Tiger: I still have 34 tiger hp. Varis: I climb up the ladder now Varis: right into orrin's ass Varis: I incubate there for 4 months and get pooped out as an egg Igfig: clearly I needed more dudes Varis: i think it was fine Varis: we just roasted 6 of them Orrin_Torrin: Well, I don't think you counted on the car doing 30 damage. Blaze_Tiger: Well I don't think you expected me to turn the cargo hold into an easy bake oven. Igfig: that is true Orrin_Torrin: And killing an entire car full of baddies. Varis: anyways Igfig: Okay, the lady then Orrin_Torrin: Spear woman. Varis: I climb up the ladder and im back on the roof Varis: do i need a dex check Orrin_Torrin: Who has actually used a falchion, a longsword and a ranseur on me now. Orrin_Torrin: So that's a pretty boss weapon. Igfig: I think you're okay for just going up the ladder Varis: well im standing on the roof again now Igfig: okay, so she's being pretty cautious Varis: cause theres a MAGE COMING UP THE LADDER Igfig: she's back to the spear, feinting and trying to keep you close to the edge Igfig: and then a pair of quick jabs Orrin_Torrin: Historically speaking, her spear has been nothing but great for me. Igfig: 2#1d20+6 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+6: [14] = 20; 1d20+6: [18] = 24 Orrin_Torrin: Naturally. Igfig: ohh shit Varis: orrini know you want her gone Varis: but im gunna kill her next turn Orrin_Torrin: Yeah if you can kill her do it. Varis: cause we cant rely on you for SHIT Orrin_Torrin: I don't suppose you can throw that shield at me still. Orrin_Torrin: Or was that a one-off. Varis: how far away are you Orrin_Torrin: Cuz that would block one. Orrin_Torrin: One car. Blaze_Tiger: well it isn't his fault she is getting crazy good rolls. Igfig: make a Dex save Orrin Orrin_Torrin: Or so. Orrin_Torrin: 1d10 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d10: [5] = 5 Igfig: d20 Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I imean this is getting ridiculous. Orrin_Torrin: 1d20 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20: [14] = 14 Orrin_Torrin: Thank God. Igfig: okay, so Varis: im assuming you're too far Igfig: first Orrin_Torrin: He hasn't rolled under a 14 in like... four rounds. Igfig: 2d8+6 damage Fortuna: Igfig, damage: [4, 2] = 12 Orrin_Torrin: I am super bloodied, by the way. Igfig: and second, yeah she shoves you off the side Orrin_Torrin: Forgot to mention that. Orrin_Torrin: Well that's no fun. Varis: now THAT i can react to Varis: I cast feather fall on him Orrin_Torrin: I don't suppose I can make a Sleight of Hand check to grab the spear that stabbed me. Igfig: but you grab hold of the edge of the roof wihth one hand Varis: so he doesn't go barreling into the fucking ground Orrin_Torrin: And pull her with me. Varis: oh oaky then Orrin_Torrin: Oh neat. Blaze_Tiger: Why not both? Igfig: you have one hand free Igfig: and yes, yes you can try and do that Orrin_Torrin: Well it has a hammer in it. Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+3 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+3: [19] = 22 Varis: YES Igfig: hahaha Igfig: let me make a dex save for her now Igfig: 1d20+6 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+6: [9] = 15 Blaze_Tiger: Sweet. Igfig: well great Varis: orrin pulls through eventually Orrin_Torrin: "You're with me, pretty. Igfig: you're both there now Orrin_Torrin: Now feather fall me and I'll drop her. Igfig: hanging off the edge Orrin_Torrin: I have her spear in one hand and my hammer in the other. Orrin_Torrin: Does she have a free hand? Varis: if you let go im not sure she will come with you Igfig: uhh Varis: but if you can knock both of you off Varis: i can feather fall you Blaze_Tiger: Perhaps you dropped your hammer in through the window? Varis: so she takes damage and you do not Orrin_Torrin: Nope. Orrin_Torrin: Never. Orrin_Torrin: She got it from me once. Igfig: let's say that for both of you, you're holding on with your weapons Varis: thats hardcore Igfig: like, your hammer got caught in something Varis: in a window Orrin_Torrin: And I'm holding her spear? Blaze_Tiger: And she changed her spear into something else when she started to fall probably. Varis: she might change it into a sword Orrin_Torrin: It's still in my hand. Varis: and you'll be holding a blade Igfig: I was about to say she made her weapon into a dagger and jammed it into the roof Varis: not a great idea Orrin_Torrin: If she wants to die. Orrin_Torrin: I'm the only thing keeping her from hitting the ground. Igfig: but that's right, you grabbed her spear Igfig: so perhaps she's holding on to the roof with one hand, and the other hand is holding onto her spear Igfig: which you are also holding Blaze_Tiger: And now I have flashbacks to the end of the first teenage mutant ninja turtles movie, only Splinter wasn't also over the edge. Orrin_Torrin: Right. Orrin_Torrin: So it's my turn now? Orrin_Torrin: And if so, can I just climb back up and smash her fingers. Orrin_Torrin: And be done with this foul woman. Igfig: wasn't your turn to pull her over with you? Orrin_Torrin: Oh I guess it can be. Orrin_Torrin: Sure. Igfig: I think that makes more sense Varis: so me then? Orrin_Torrin: Yeah. Igfig: yeah Varis: okay Blaze_Tiger: Well, or me. Varis: i can move up and thunderwave again Igfig: you probably can't get there without a double move Orrin_Torrin: I have a move, but I don't really know what I'd do with it. Varis: hmm Varis: well I'll move up once then Blaze_Tiger: Tigers have a speed of 40 also. Igfig: but if you have a ranged attack, that could work Varis: I have my Varis: DUEL WANDS Varis: I WHIP THEM OUT Varis: she cant move much Igfig: okay Varis: since she's holding on Varis: do i get advantage or just Varis: regular roll Varis: well its my aim Varis: so regular yar Varis: 1d20+6 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+6: [7] = 13 Igfig: that's a miss I'm afraid Varis: aw dongalong Orrin_Torrin: See what I'm dealing with here? Igfig: force shatters a window right next to her Varis: i dont suppose i can use my military fate aspect to get another go? Orrin_Torrin: See I would've made my fate points much more combat-oriented if I'd given it a little more thought. Orrin_Torrin: I can't really do anything with any of them right now. Igfig: if you like, but I'm trying to subtly steer this toward having Orrin be the one to finish this battle Varis: then i can use it to give him an advantage Igfig: sure Varis: alright Orrin_Torrin: I have 15 hp. Varis: I reach into my compoment pouch Orrin_Torrin: So if she attacks me, with these rolls, I'm gonna die. Varis: and pull out a bottle of grease Varis: I toss it to where she is holding onto Igfig: haha, oh nice Varis: 1d20+4 Fortuna: Varis, 1d20+4: [2] = 6 Varis: BALLLLSSSSS Igfig: well Orrin_Torrin: THIS GODDAMN WOMAN. Igfig: it just goes off the side Varis: good luck orrin! Varis: end turn Blaze_Tiger: right, my turn then? Igfig: I think maybe Orrin Varis: i hit a passing bird Igfig: Oh sure Blaze Igfig: what do you want to do Orrin_Torrin: Don't DM save me. Orrin_Torrin: We can do this. Varis: hm Orrin_Torrin: Peter, you got a heal of any kind? Varis: he is inside Blaze_Tiger: Well, I'm going to not keep the flaming sphere up so that is gone now, what is the state of the cargo cart? Varis: he can run over to the window Varis: and help out from there Igfig: there are a bunch of crates and things Blaze_Tiger: Yar that is something I'm planning on, I do have cure wounds on me. Varis: you're in the galley Igfig: one is split open, you can see a lot of straw padding and stuff Orrin_Torrin: Yeah if you can just keep me up, I'm bound to hit here eventually. Igfig: and the deep purple-blue gleam of a khyber dragonshard Blaze_Tiger: Probably good that I didn't do open fire inside the cargo hold then, yeah. Varis: blaze you should get over to the window and help keep orrin afloat Blaze_Tiger: Yeah. Blaze_Tiger: I just wanted to know how the cargo hold was, also since it is still part of the plan how is the cart connector holding up? Varis: we can get that after we save orrin Igfig: yeah, but you could unhitch it pretty easily I'm sure Blaze_Tiger: Alrighty. Varis: oh Varis: igfig from here can I see her pin Igfig: uh sure Varis: can i use a free action to rolla history check Igfig: I think with your researcher background, you recognize it automatically Varis: aah okay then Varis: thatd be a fate point though Varis: cause i moved researcher to fate aspects Varis: since it works better there Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I remember there being a 5e rule where you can just assume you succeed on that kind of stuff. Varis: yar Varis: if the dc is 5 Igfig: it's the symbol of the Dark Lanterns, Breland's elite intelligence division Igfig: bascially MI6 Blaze_Tiger: I make my way over to to them while he is realizing whatever he is realizing, turning back into half-elf from tiger as I move. Igfig: http://eberron.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Lanterns Varis: well we can congratulate orrin on trying to solo an elite monster Orrin_Torrin: So I just fought James Bond on the roof of a moving train. Orrin_Torrin: Gangster. Orrin_Torrin: I did keep her off you while you killed all the adds. Igfig: so this shipment is evidently of serious interest to Breland's crown Varis: odd that a spy wears a logo saying who she is Igfig: and apparently to somebody in Aundair as well Orrin_Torrin: And also pirates. Igfig: well, she was evidently not here in a spy capacity Varis: yar i guess so Varis: so what is blaze doing there Igfig: probably she was protecting the shipment Blaze_Tiger: I reach my hand out to touch Orrin through the window and cast Cure Wounds: Orrin_Torrin: Anyway, please save me from dying. Varis: just grab his leg and spit out a bunch of healing energy at him Blaze_Tiger: And I think I will not be doing it at level 1 either. Blaze_Tiger: I'll do it at level 3. Blaze_Tiger: 6d8+2 Fortuna: Blaze_Tiger, 6d8+2: [1, 1, 2, 1, 5, 4] = 16 Igfig: probably his hand, since his hammer is what's caught in the window Varis: I FORGOT TO MESSAGE THE SHIP Blaze_Tiger: Yar. Igfig: ouch, not the greatest rolls Igfig: haahhaha Orrin_Torrin: God dammit. Blaze_Tiger: Yeah, good thing I did it at level 3. Orrin_Torrin: Well that gives me 31. Igfig: okay Blaze_Tiger: That would have been terrible if I'd done it any less. Igfig: so, Orrin and the Lantern then Varis: coing to CBC Varis: coming* Igfig: I was thinking she'd mainly be trying to just get her weapon back first Igfig: so how about just an opposed Str roll Orrin_Torrin: 1d20+4 Fortuna: Orrin_Torrin, 1d20+4: [15] = 19 Igfig: 1d20+1 Fortuna: Igfig, 1d20+1: [1] = 2 Orrin_Torrin: HA., Igfig: ONE Orrin_Torrin: I STEAL IT. Orrin_Torrin: MINE Igfig: CRITICAL FAIL Varis: you yank it completely Igfig: PERFECT TIMING Varis: and she flies off the train Orrin_Torrin: I want to stab her with it. Igfig: Like, you pull it hard, she tries to grab it with her second hand to keep it from getting away Varis: wow Igfig: and then she realizes what a bad idea that was Varis: w o w Varis: that is like Orrin_Torrin: Hahaha. Blaze_Tiger: Understandably so, that thing must be worth a ton. Varis: something degdeg would do Orrin_Torrin: Womp womp. Igfig: and she falls Varis: *sad trombone noises* Varis: so we got a cool morphing weapon too Igfig: luckily for her you are going over a bridge at the time Igfig: you see a tiny splash below Blaze_Tiger: That weapon alone is probably worth almost as much as a portion of these dragonshards. Orrin_Torrin: "Ye should've just kissed me!" Varis: I say we give it to meeeeee so i can protect myself better Varis: cause orrin has his money hamer Varis: and blaze has bear poers Varis: powers* Blaze_Tiger: Orrin got stabbed by it more though. Orrin_Torrin: Yeah I called dibs. Varis: orrin would never give up his custom hammer Varis: are you saying that orrin Orrin_Torrin: And also I'm the only one of us with any weapon proficiencies. Igfig: Does the money hammer do anything special other than making a money noise? Varis: are you saying you dont want your money hammer anymore Orrin_Torrin: A man can't carry two weapons? Orrin_Torrin: It does not. Varis: I have weapon proficiencies Igfig: That's probably a pretty simple enchantment Orrin_Torrin: Varis will you enchant this weapon to make money noises. Orrin_Torrin: Buddy. Orrin_Torrin: Friend. Blaze_Tiger: You could trade probably toss it onto the other one, and then you have a money weapon that is as shifty as the man who wields it. Varis: after refusing to give me the weapon when you already have your own equally rad weapon Varis: I'm gunna need some serious incentive to do that Varis: hmmm Varis: thats a good idea Varis: alright sure Varis: but for now Orrin_Torrin: I soloed an elite mob to keep you alive? Varis: LETS GET THE CARGO Varis: I message the fucking ship Orrin_Torrin: Hahaha. Igfig: and since it's something new, you probably got Varis to do the enchant for you in the first place Varis: can I get time to analyze it first Igfig: all right, Ben will be there in five mins Varis: I want to learn that enchantment Orrin_Torrin: Go nuts. Blaze_Tiger: Let's get on the cargo cart and unhook it. Varis: I can write it in my spellbook and keep it in mind for our future enchanting needs Igfig: all right Varis: it'll be expensive though Blaze_Tiger: the money noise enchant? Varis: no the fucking morphing weapon Blaze_Tiger: I don't think he meant you learn that enchantment. Varis: I probably ehcnated the money noise in the first place Igfig: enchanting items is really hard to do Blaze_Tiger: I think he meant the money noise one is the one you know, yar. Igfig: I mean, something basic like the money noise is one thing Varis: a noise on impact is pretty easy i think Igfig: yeah Varis: I can have time to look at the weapon Orrin_Torrin: I remember it being "Real magic is rare, cosmetic magic is really common." Varis: maybe at least learn a little bit Igfig: yep Varis: I am a researcher after all Orrin_Torrin: Oh yeah you can play with it on the ship all you want. Igfig: that's tweaked a bit in Eberron because of dragonshards Orrin_Torrin: As long as I get to whack fools with it. Varis: yeah go ahead Igfig: dragonshard items make magic a bit more common Varis: so we unhook the last train cart Igfig: lot of wands use dragonshards Blaze_Tiger: Considering the airships and the lightning rail, yar. Igfig: all right Varis: and begin prepping to move the cargo on Varis: how heavy is it i could use dimensional door to make it much quicker Igfig: oh, you see the door at the other end of the galley cart open while you work Igfig: and as you finish uncoupling the cart Blaze_Tiger: Maybe I shouldn't have dissipated the flaming sphere, but ah well. Igfig: you see a very confused conductor looking back at you Orrin_Torrin: Is it the conductor? Varis: oops Orrin_Torrin: I flip him a gold coin. Orrin_Torrin: "Sorry about the meeeeeeess" I yell as we fade into the distance. Igfig: he just stares Igfig: and yeah, all right Blaze_Tiger: And more music: Blaze_Tiger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1QUZzeZoPQ Blaze_Tiger: Since we are in post-fight. Igfig: the cargo cart comes to a stop, and soon Ben is there Blaze_Tiger: Unless something happens and this music is too early. Varis: collecting our cargo Igfig: nah, that's all for today Varis: i like 5 e Blaze_Tiger: Alright, music is properly timed. Igfig: montage of you all packing up the crates Varis: i just dont think igfig expected us to cook his enemies and then launch a flaming sphere at them Orrin_Torrin: It is definitely better-suited to this method of playing, as well. Igfig: well, the thing about 5e Orrin_Torrin: His elite was a fucking stunner though., Varis: that woman had crazy rolls Igfig: is that it's a lot more old school than 4e, and even 3e Orrin_Torrin: One single digit roll after the first round. Blaze_Tiger: Yar, we didn't need a map or anything, and it all worked out nice and well. Igfig: she was luckier than expected Varis: in more complex fights we might want to keep a map going Igfig: I was really worried after the first round, you almost bloodied her there Blaze_Tiger: Yar, but even then it'll be more for reference then it was in 4e. Orrin_Torrin: I just couldn't hit her after that. Varis: its entirely possible she is still alive Varis: she fell into water Orrin_Torrin: I assume she is. Varis: we may see her again Igfig: almost certainly Varis: and she'll be pissed Orrin_Torrin: And then I'll give her a taste of her own medicine. Orrin_Torrin: Oh Ig. Blaze_Tiger: Considering we took her awesome shifting weapon, I think pissed is an understatement. Igfig: but yeah, this system is quite old-school, it gives you the tools to avoid a lot of fights completely if you're clever about it Igfig: yes Orrin? Orrin_Torrin: Given the morph power of this weapon, can I make it display my holy symbol? Igfig: that's a great idea Igfig: sure Orrin_Torrin: Raaad. Varis: lets actually keep these dragonshards on hand for a while or at least keep some so we can get an enchanter to get us some cool magical items Orrin_Torrin: Other than the shifting, is it a normal weapon? Igfig: yeah Varis: or at least make minor cosmetic changes Igfig: Technically I think it's called a Dynamic weapon, but details Varis: like a pink longsword Blaze_Tiger: I don't think you need dragonshards to make a pink longsword. Orrin_Torrin: http://www.wasd.ms/index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=2039 Varis: not if it's gunna be the hottest pink there is Blaze_Tiger: Some high quality paint would work. Orrin_Torrin: That's my weapon from now on. Igfig: I think what I might actually do is email Keith Baker and ask him what you can do with dragonshards in 5e Igfig: because I've been wondering about what this would actually mean Varis: so lets hold onto them for a while Orrin_Torrin: So it would probably be in my best interest to get a shield now. Igfig: yes Blaze_Tiger: What else was in the cargo then? Varis: yes Orrin_Torrin: Since i have a weapon that can morph to one-handed between rounds. Varis: there is probably supplies and stuff Varis: can we have an inventory sheet for our ship, just stuff we keep on it Igfig: I was thinking morph would be a 1/round thing, though I might have messed that up some Igfig: yeah, sure Orrin_Torrin: Well that's fine. Varis: okay so put crates of dragonshards onto there i suppose Orrin_Torrin: I just mean if it would be advantageous to go to shield, I can do it on the next round. Igfig: and I'd say there's nothing else terribly interesting in the cargo, House Tharashk didn't want other people in their cargo if they could help it Igfig: right Orrin_Torrin: I wouldn't think I could sheathe a warhammer, draw a smaller hammer, and draw a shield in the same turn. Igfig: yeah sure Orrin_Torrin: This is the best critical failure. Orrin_Torrin: Great job Orrin. Varis: its like one of those perfectly timed ones Igfig: I was really hoping I would get a critical failure somewhere in there Igfig: Fortuna is really good at giving us critical failures when we need them most Orrin_Torrin: Yeah. Orrin_Torrin: She was just keeping it interesting. Varis: and criticals Varis: thanks fortuna Fortuna: You're welcome. Orrin_Torrin: She knew I wanted that weapon. Blaze_Tiger: Yar, I hadn've said thanks yet. Igfig: if it'd come earlier, I would have had a tunnel hit the Lantern Varis: ouch wow Blaze_Tiger: thanks fortuna for all those crits at the beginning, that was silly. Fortuna: You're welcome. Igfig: hadn've? Orrin_Torrin: Woof. Varis: she probably would have killed her Orrin_Torrin: That's the wrong phrase like... 3 different way. Orrin_Torrin: s Varis: since a train moves pretty fast Igfig: shrug Orrin_Torrin: It worked out. Varis quit. Igfig: it sure did Orrin_Torrin: She lived, I lived, I got a cool weapon, she has motive for revenge. Igfig: And you all escape on the SS Ben Orrin_Torrin: Were we supposed to get the weapon? Or was that just luck? Igfig: I figured I'd leave it to fate Igfig: fate decreed you would Blaze_Tiger: Plus she's law enforcement of some kind, so she's going to be the Inspector Zenigata to Orrin's Lupin. Igfig: or rather, our darling Fortuna did Orrin_Torrin: She DOES care. Igfig: oh c'mon, did I not make "darling" one of Fortuna's phrases Orrin_Torrin: I was worried after all the, y'know, stabbing. Igfig: our dear fortuna Igfig: our lovely fortuna Fortuna smiles shyly. Igfig: our waifu fortuna Fortuna blushes. Igfig: there we go Igfig: and with that, I bid you all good evening! Orrin_Torrin: So long! Igfig: Next week, 4e with Delf Igfig quit.
